🔥 Hot take: What we call “taste” in design is mostly just applying the right design guidelines. "Taste” isn’t some mysterious talent you’re born with, it’s the result of learning and applying visual design guidelines consistently. Natural talent helps, but learning and applying things like hierarchy, spacing, contrast, and alignment train your eye to see what works and what doesn’t. The more you practise with these guidelines, the more natural good taste becomes, until it feels instinctive. 💎 UX Mapping Methods (Miro/Figma) for empathy maps, customer journey maps, experience maps and service blueprints ↓ ✅ Empathy maps capture user’s mindset for tasks. ✅ Journey maps describe a persona’s specific interaction. ✅ Experience maps cover “full” UX across all user types/products. ✅ Service blueprints focus on internal processes and flows. ✅ Process maps capture user’s mental model, done by users. ✅ Empathy maps: 4 quadrants — Says, Thinks, Feels, Does. ✅ Journey maps: 4 lanes — phases, actions, thoughts, emotions. ✅ Experience maps: 4 lanes — phases, actions, thoughts, emotions. ✅ Service blueprints: 4 lanes — user, frontstage, backstage, support. ✅ Process maps: no lanes — sticky notes, organized by users. ✅ Use empathy maps in initial design phase and early research. ✅ Experience maps inform and shape the customer journey map. ✅ Journey maps are a key reference in entire design process. ✅ Service blueprints are drafted after user journey mapping. As Stéphanie Walter noted, user journeys often start way before users actually start interacting with our product — so always consider non-digital touchpoints as well. Users might even need to consult other tools and services as they interact with yours, so keep track on them, too. UX mapping helps document and visualize findings and constraints. More often than not, it becomes a general reference for the entire team, guiding and shaping decisions and directions. But: question assumptions and biases early. Are you a designer with self-awareness?🤔 Yesterday, I attended a workshop held by Christopher Nguyen and Joseph Louis Tan and one part of the conversation really landed with me. They spoke about self-awareness, not just as a personal trait, but as one of the most powerful (and underrated) tools in a designer’s career journey. When the job search gets tough, it’s easy to go into autopilot: apply, apply, apply. But the designers who grow? Who get seen? They’re the ones who know: ✨ their values ✨ their strengths ✨ their “zone of genius” ✨ the kind of people and companies they thrive with ✨ and the non-negotiables that bring them joy That kind of clarity doesn’t just help you apply, it helps you align. With roles, with teams, and most importantly, with yourself. ✅ 👉🏻 And honestly, this echoes something I’ve heard again and again in interviews. The questions weren’t just testing my hard skills, they were trying to understand if I really knew myself as a designer. Big thanks to Christopher and Joseph for this reminder: Sometimes, the most impactful design work starts from within. 🙏

📱 Day 3/15 – UX Audit Series App: BookMyShow 🎬 | Screen: Region Selection What works ✅ - Clear intent: user immediately understands that location drives the experience. - Direct task flow: no clutter, just a single focus: pick your city. - List view: familiar, alphabetized layout makes scanning easier. What could improve ⚠️ - Forced step: no “skip” or explore option; first-time users might drop off. - Accessibility: light placeholder + thin icon strokes may miss contrast targets. - Long lists = long scroll: no A–Z index or jump shortcuts under “Other Cities.” UX takeaway (laws to remember) 💡 - Jakob’s Law: users expect standard patterns (search + skip); removing them adds friction. - Peak-End Rule: first impressions matter; forcing choices too soon can create negative recall. 👉 What’s your take? Looking at Lottie animations on Figma preview kinda sucks. It exports as GIF, the quality is bad, it just doesn't feel real when you look at it on your phone. Not anymore! Open up your Cursor and Xcode, install "lottie-spm" as a dependency and write a simple prompt: "Create an app launch screen with a custom animation from Lottie. You can find it under /Lottie folder I just created, called launcher_logo.json" 5 minutes later.. a native experience of seeing how the animation is played and rendered, beautifully. Pro tip: 1. Ask Cursor to leave comments in code where you can customize the UI 2. You can preview in light and dark mode instantly in Xcode 3. Reuse, recycle this iOS project for future prototypes Lately, I've been forcing myself to apply AI into my workflow. Follow me for more examples 🤗
