About us
Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises - ABLE is a not-for-profit pan-India forum that represents the Indian Biotechnology Sector. It was launched in April 2003, after industry leaders felt a need to form an exclusive forum to represent the Indian Biotechnology Sector. ABLE has members from all across India representing all verticals of the sector like agribiotech, bio-pharma, industrial biotech, bioinformatics, investment banks and Venture Capital firms, leading research and academic institutes and law firms and equipment suppliers. The primary focus of ABLE is to accelerate the pace of growth of the Biotechnology sector in India, through partnering with the Government in their biotechnology initiatives to deliver optimal policies and create a positive regulatory environment, encouraging entrepreneurship and investment in the sector, providing a platform for domestic and overseas companies to explore collaboration and partnerships, forging stronger links between academia and industry and showcasing the strengths of the Indian biotech sector. The report positions #Kerala as a national leader in sustainable bio-based growth, mapping a #BioEconomy valued at US $7.53 billion (₹62,000 crore) equivalent to 4.25% of India’s national BioEconomy and projecting its expansion to $11-12 billion (₹100,000 crore) by 2030. The IT BT Department, Karnataka has launched the Local Economy Accelerator Program (LEAP) with an outlay of ₹1,000 crore over five years. LEAP is designed to create 5 lakh jobs, strengthen the startup ecosystem, and extend innovation beyond Bengaluru into emerging clusters including Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubbali, Belagavi, Tumkur, Kalaburagi and Shivamogga. 🌍 Catch GFI India at the Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) at World Food India 2025! Hosted by the Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, GFRS brings together regulators from around the world to discuss the strengthening of food safety systems and regulatory frameworks across the food value chain. This year’s edition features a session which will focus on regulatory approaches to novel foods such as #smartprotein and a Sustainable Innovation in Food Showcase exhibit of ten pioneering novel foods startups.
