Earlier when I used to visit villages during the years 2017-2019, it was a hard time getting any internet connectivity. In some villages, even normal phone connectivity used to be an issue. Over the years, the situation improved dramatically. Today, I can take Zoom calls from all the villages that I visit. India's digital infra growth has been magnificent! Now, 70% of Indian farmers own a smartphone and actively use internet. This number was just 20% before the pandemic. I think this is the most important chapter in India's growth story! They primarily use Youtube for content consumption. Like how you and me search excel formulas on YouTube, they too search solutions for their crop problems on YouTube! However, nowadays they are very active on Facebook and Instagram as well. I was surprised to see a large number of farmers using Instagram actively. Curious to know more?
