About us
The BIS is National Standard Body for India. It main function is to formulate and certify the Indian Stnadard. BIS is co founder of ISO and is Nodal Point for all TBT under WTO from India. BIS is also active member of all the International Standardizing agencies such as ISO, IEC, ITU etc. The BIS flagship scheme is ISI Mark (started by late Sh Pt Jawhar Lal Nehru, First PM of India), ISO 9000 certification, HACCP, HALLMARK of Gold Jewellery, ISO 14000 Series Certification etc. The BIS scope is vast and could not be stated easily on some lines, for details of BIS one should visit the BIS website
