Established in 1985, “Centre for Foreign Languages” dedicated to language learners to embrace their passion. The CGL, run by the newly formed Bengaluru City University, allows students to study up to 15 popular and less common tongues like Thai, Hebrew, Polish, and Dutch. The CGL - BCU offers Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma, and Advanced Diploma (Regular & Weekend) in various foreign languages. The duration of each course is eight months. IT professionals and students are the most popular takers for such classes. Besides, the students interested in degree-level programs can pursue German, Japanese, Spanish and French. The University is also planning to start a five-year integrated BA and MA in French, Spanish, and German. As of today, it offers:  Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma, and Advanced Diploma in French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.  Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma in Italian, and Portuguese.  Certificate in Finnish, Russian, and Arabic.  Conversation course in Thai, Dutch, Hebrew, and Polish.  M.A in French, Japanese, German, and Spanish.  Ph.D. program in French.
