Finland–India Space Collaboration: On 17 October 2025, SIA-India hosted experts from India, Finland, and Europe to explore the future of #space #technology, science, and #industrial collaboration. The discussions highlighted how shared strengths and joint initiatives can accelerate #innovation, industrial scale-up, and #globalcompetitiveness.
Key Highlights:
🔺 Joint R&D & Innovation: Collaborative programs in satellite systems, space weather modeling, AI-driven data analytics, micro/nanosatellite development, and space life sciences were emphasized, supported by researcher and student exchanges to nurture next-generation expertise.
🔺Industry Synergy: Opportunities for co-manufacturing, joint payloads, small satellite systems, and deep-tech startup partnerships were identified, combining Finland’s R&D-driven approach with India’s manufacturing and launch capabilities.
🔺Data & Infrastructure Sharing: Open access to satellite data, testing facilities, and simulation platforms can strengthen orbital safety, SSA/STM capabilities, and climate-focused applications.
🔺Strategic Vision: The trajectory is clear: move from government-to-government programs toward B2B collaboration, industry–academia partnerships, and joint technology co-development, creating applied solutions with societal and global impact.
🔺Regulatory & Policy Leverage: Importantly, non-EU countries like India should actively participate in the consultative process of the EU Space Act. Submissions from Indian stakeholders can influence harmonized standards, compliance frameworks, and cross-border collaboration mechanisms, ensuring that the global space ecosystem is inclusive, competitive, and innovation-friendly.
SIA-India is already in the process of preparing a comprehensive submission to the #EUSpaceAct to represent the interests of Indian space enterprises and is keen to gather wider stakeholder input to maximize impact.
