Sisir Radar elevates horizons with the world's highest-resolution L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
About us
Our Mission: We possess the world's highest-resolution L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) & we are creating India's first drone-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Its commercial and strategic applications will remain unhindered by clouds, smoke, fog and even pitch darkness. We aim to make this technology and its results affordable for anyone and everyone! With our all-weather, day and night, high-frequency imaging drone-borne SARs, invisible details come to light. Our Founder: Acknowledged as a global expert in Imaging Radar, Tapan Misra was the Director of two of ISRO’s most prestigious centres, Space Applications Centre (SAC) and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). He is also considered the Father of the RISAT series of imaging satellites, which form the backbone of India’s many tactical, strategic and civilian applications. He is also the lead designer of NASA ISRO dual frequency SAR (NISAR) which is scheduled to launch by 2024.

Sisir Radar was glad to attend the Space Applications Adoption Workshop (SAAW) under Space for Karnataka, organized by IN-SPACe, KSRSAC GoK, and the Government of Karnataka. The event brought together government, startups, and academia to explore how space tech can drive better governance. We showcased upstream innovations enabling impactful downstream applications. Great to see NextGen Enterprises (NGEs) highlight their capabilities too. Thanks to Air Vice Marshal Dhananjay Khot (Retd), Mr. Priyank M Kharge, Dr. Manjula N, IAS, IT BT Department, Karnataka, Mr. Rajesh N L, Mr. Chandra Prakash Singh, Mr. Nikhil Nainawatee, Mr. Rohit Singh, Dr. Vinod Kumar, FIE, FIETE, Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Mr. Vinod Bothale, and the organizers for a forward-looking initiative. #KSRSAC #INSPACe #SAAW #SisirRadar #SpaceTech

A very interesting image of a soccer field, captured by L band Drone SAR of Sisir Radar. With a resolution of 0.85 m (Azimuth) and 1 m (Range), L band SAR could pick up the vertical bars of two goal posts clearly in the image. The measurement reveals the distance between two vertical bars of a goalpost as 8 m and goalpost to goalpost distance of 104 m. The measurement matches closely with the standard of 7.6 m and 105 m, respectively. Kindly note that the measurement is consistent with the pixel spacing of our image, as 0.5 m. #sisirradar #SAR #Lband

Every SAR image conveys a story. But this interesting image of a group of crop fields, captured by L band Drone SAR from Sisir Radar, conveys many stories within one frame. The dark fields are completely barren fields, giving off hardly any back scatter. There might or might not have been any crop in these fields. Fields with blue tones are freshly harvested, stubbles still remaining in the fields. Stubbles give off single bounce back scatter, giving a bluish tinge. More the stubbles, more the blue signature. There are some fields with an admixture of blue and red signatures. They are partly harvested fields. Partly standing crops come out in a red tinge because of double bounce scattering. Non harvested fields are identifiable with yellow or red signatures. Partly dry ripe crops allow more penetration of radar signals, with significant single bounce returns, mixed with double bounce returns. Together, they give a yellow tinge to their signatures. Yet to be matured crops, have significant water content. They do not allow significant signal penetration and hence minimal single bounce scattering. On the other hand, double bounce scattering dominates, giving rise to a reddish tone. Last but not the least: uncultivated lands with significant foliage cover, show up as depolarised scattering with green colour. Thicker the foliage, darker the green tone. #sisirradar #SAR #crop
