Meet Priyanka from Ulhasnagar whose growth journey began with Smile Foundation’s Skill Training and Employability Programme. She joined the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) training after learning about it during a college interview. Through the training, she not only gained knowledge of banking, loans and insurance, but also confidence and communication skills. Through Smile Foundation’s skill training and employability programme (STeP), Priyanka gained the confidence and skills she needed to move forward. Through the Build a Bike Challenge, Indus Insights’ Manager’s Forum joined hands with Smile Foundation to create something truly special, bicycles for children who walk miles to reach school. As part of the Aspirational District Block Transformation initiative, Smile Foundation is strengthening schools and creating holistic learning opportunities for students in Siddharthnagar, UP. Students engaged in interactive sessions on STEM learning, self-safety, and empowerment, showcasing their curiosity, creativity, and confidence through performances and demonstrations. The initiative involved teachers, local officials, and community members, including Shri Kalyan Singh Maurya (Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sadar), Shri Shailesh Kumar (District Basic Education Officer), Shri Vinay Kumar (Provision Officer), and district coordinators, to enhance classroom practices, support extracurricular learning, and create environments where students can explore, experiment, and express themselves. By focusing on life skills, self-awareness, and decision-making abilities, Smile Foundation ensures children are not only learning academically but also developing essential tools for the future. When Aditi received a Smile Foundation engineering scholarship, she saw it as a chance to learn and challenge herself to do more. From her early days, she approached learning and challenges with clarity of thought and steady focus, always exploring ideas and finding ways to grow. Her recent success at the Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH), VIT Pune, where she was selected among the Top 10 out of 900+ entries, reflects this approach. Aditi, along with her team, developed an AI-powered FRA (Forest Resource Assessment) Atlas and Web-GIS (Geographic Information System) based Decision Support System (DSS) to track forest resources, plan their sustainable use and support decisions that benefit communities and the environment. Aditi continues to learn and explore new possibilities in technology; building confidence, experience and a sense of purpose along the way. Smile Foundation's Smile on Wheels initiative, supported by Avantor Foundation is bringing primary healthcare to the doorsteps of unreached communities in Tamil Nadu. A dedicated team of doctors, nurses and community mobilizers is treating patients, including expectant mothers, elderly individuals and children. Smile Foundation, in partnership with R1RCM, is helping young people from underserved communities gain the skills and confidence they need to step into the professional world. With this milestone, the students are now ready to explore new placement opportunities through Smile Foundation’s support network. The training has equipped them with essential workplace and digital skills, improved communication, and a better understanding of professional settings. Many students shared how the sessions helped them believe in themselves and prepare for real work environments. Some who have already received placement offers spoke about their experiences, inspiring their peers to stay motivated and keep moving forward with confidence and hope. “I have a younger brother. He is different from other children. He sometimes finds it hard to do things by himself. I always feed him and make him laugh. I love him a lot and want to protect him. My parents work in the fields from morning to evening. They work very hard. I feel sad when I see them tired and want to do something to make them proud. I have a big dream. I want to join the Indian Army. I want to wear the uniform, hold the gun and salute the tricolour. Sometimes I draw pictures of soldiers in my notebook and imagine myself standing tall like them. In school, I like maths and history. My teachers say I am disciplined and focused. I try to study hard because I know only education can help me reach my dream. I never want to give up.
