Pioneering 100% Digital Security Processes at Bosch GS Pune (BBM) Warehouse In July 2022, I was entrusted with a newly created role — Head Security for PAN India Bosch GS Warehouses. My first mandate was clear: assess risk and strengthen security across operations. During my initial assessments, I noticed something striking at the Pune (BBM) warehouse: Over 80% of our security guards’ time was consumed by manual data entry. The implications were serious — with so much focus on record-keeping, there was less attention on core security tasks, creating room for errors, or unauthorized entry. Having earlier worked on developing web-based registers, I knew digitization could be the game changer. The challenge, however, was not just technology but competency and mindset. 🔹 Phase 1 – Assessing Competence I evaluated the existing security staff’s computer literacy. The results were below expectations, and despite coaching efforts, improvement was limited. 🔹 Phase 2 – Building Capability & Changing Approach To achieve sustainable progress, we decided to bring in a new team of security professionals with baseline computer skills, while simultaneously developing web registers for every security function. 🔹 Phase 3 – Developing Web Registers Over the next 18 months, we designed and rolled out more than 60% of the required web registers. Gradually, they replaced manual books, allowing guards to focus on what truly matters — vigilance, access control, and safeguarding assets. 🔹 Phase 4 – Full-Scale Implementation By mid-2024, every manual register at the Pune (BBM) warehouse had been replaced by a digital version. Training, adoption, and continuous support from BSW Managers Ramesh Gavade and Abhishek Bhesar, LSP Manager Tarkesh Muttagishettar,and our young security professionals turned the vision into reality. Throughout this journey, one lesson has stood out clearly: Consistency is key to achieving the goals you set at the start of a project. Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Times Security India Summit 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
