This new report clarifies the specific areas that still inflate costs: Transport Dominates: Transportation is the biggest cost component. Modal Imbalance: We rely heavily on expensive road transport. The report shows rail and waterways are far more cost-efficient per kilometre, highlighting a critical need for modal shift. Efficiency Gaps: Costs for specialized logistics, like temperature-controlled warehouses, remain high, indicating a need for better infrastructure efficiency and tech adoption. Why this matters: Reducing these costs further will enhance the competitiveness of Indian products in global markets.
