📸 #EventHighlights | #TASI2025 | #ChildCreators At the Trust & Safety India Festival 2025, the panel “Child Influencers in the Creator Economy” unpacked one of the most pressing questions of our digital age, how do we safeguard the rights and wellbeing of children in a world where influence itself has become a profession? As young creators build vast audiences and shape online culture, panelists explored the ethical, legal, and emotional complexities of monetizing childhood on social media, from advertising disclosures and data privacy to labor rights, consent, and parental responsibility. The discussion brought together voices from policy, advocacy, and the creator community, examining how India can craft frameworks that protect children’s digital futures while allowing creativity and self-expression to thrive. 🌐 Panelists: 🔹 Manisha Kapoor, CEO & Secretary-General, The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) 🔹 Anupriya Kapur, Digital Influencer and Life Coach 🔹 Kriti Trehan, Founder, Data & Co – Law & Policy Advisors 🔹 Anshul Tewari, Founder & CEO, Youth Ki Awaaz 🎙️ Moderator: barkha dutt, Award-winning Journalist, Anchor & Columnist Together, they called for stronger ethical guidelines, platform accountability, and public awareness to ensure that the creator economy remains empowering not exploitative for children. Climate leadership belongs as much to citizens as it does to experts and policymakers, if not more. Because the real test of resilience is in the streets we walk every day and the systems that shape how we live. It’s in questions like: Do women feel safe walking through their neighbourhoods when temperatures soar? Do disaster plans account for the needs of people with disabilities? Are our waste systems built for the realities of rapidly growing cities? Are our streets designed to cut harmful emissions? When we talk about civic engagement and climate resilience, we’re talking about things that rarely make it to the centre stage of climate discussions. That’s the work we’re doing with #CityClimatePulse - of building pathways for young people to shape the future of our cities, one civic action at a time. Born out of a shared vision, this initiative is a collaboration between Youth Ki Awaaz, Raahgiri Foundation, and Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC), with the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives ), to inspire young changemakers to lead the way toward resilient urban futures. If you’re a student who wants to shape how your city responds to the climate crisis in the systems that govern everyday life - applications for the 2025 cohort are now open: https://lnkd.in/g_nCwkzd #youth #youthleadership #trainingprogram #youthkiawaaz

Anshul Tewari, founder of Youth Ki Awaaz, recently hosted a phenomenal TED Talk on his journey of building the impact-driven citizen media platform. In his talk, he spotlighted Jolly Mohan, a young wheelchair user, who shared her stirring story of navigating inaccessible washrooms. As a Campaigns Editor with YKA at the time, I had the priviledge of supporting Jolly in telling her story intimately, powerfully, and with the dignity it deserves. In my latest #Substack, I delve behind-the-scenes of their journey - the editor-writer relationship that is built on trust, and how telling her story changed Jolly's life, especially at her workplace, a leading financial services business. More power to Jolly and YKA, which offers an important platform for honest, raw storytelling that drives impact for citizens and their communities. (Find the link to my Substack in the first comment)

Storytelling has the power to shape how we see the world — and how we choose to change it.✍️ Stories move people — not just emotionally, but socially. They make us feel, question, and often, act. Today, I attended a thought-provoking session on “Shaping Urban Climate Futures: Media Narratives, Citizen Participation, and the Youth Perspective” at ICLEI South Asia's inaugural ARISE Cities Forum 2025. The discussion was a powerful reminder that narratives are far more than communication tools — they are the foundation that shapes how we understand climate change, urban futures, and collective responsibility. ✨Narratives influence how we feel about climate change, how we see citizens, and how we respond as communities. ✨When diverse people keep telling the same story through advocacy, it begins to shift perspectives. ✨When stories become inclusive, they build communities that care. ✨When media becomes hyperlocal, it brings visibility to communities facing the climate crisis first-hand. ✨Youth are not just stakeholders, but change-bearers — leading the movement from awareness to empathy-driven action. The narrative must go beyond what is happening to why it’s happening — because that’s where understanding leads to impact. Sayli Mankikar Aditi Agrawal Meenakshi Ramesh Lovlesh Sharma SHIVANI SINGH Rohit Kumar Sampada Tewari The session ended with an engaging activity led by Kaivalya Plays and Dasra, reminding us that storytelling is not just about narrating — it’s about co-creating spaces where everyone feels heard, seen, and part of the solution. Ghaniya Shaikh Ansari Arun Vyas Thank you, Simran Pavecha and Youth Ki Awaaz, for this opportunity to be part of such a meaningful exchange. 🌱 Because at the end of the day — Stories don’t just reflect the world. They rebuild it — one climate story at a time.🤝 #Storytelling #ClimateAction #YouthVoices #Sustainability #NarrativesForChange #ARISECitiesForum2025 #MediaForImpact #EmpathyInAction

At every panel and networking event, people discuss creating spaces for young people and giving them a front-row seat to systemic change. But how many spaces actually go beyond tokenism and hand over the baton to the youth? Youth isn't the future of systemic change- they are HERE and NOW. They are the changemakers of today. But despite being motivated and driven, not all young people across cities get access to these panels, events, or workshops to participate or voice their concerns. So, what do we do to bring the youth to the forefront in the real sense? Create spaces which are for them and by them. To do this, Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC), in collaboration with Youth Ki Awaaz and Raahgiri Foundation, has launched the City Climate Pulse Program, which is a fellowship for those passionate about making their cities more climate resilient. Running in Bengaluru, Indore, and Mumbai, the program is open exclusively to undergraduate students passionate about building climate-resilient cities that are inclusive, sustainable, and responsive. Over three months, participants will work in small teams to tackle urban challenges and design creative campaigns for change. Indore’s youth is rewriting what a healthy, climate-resilient city looks like. 🌱 We're so glad to be supported by Healthy Cities for Adolescents in building ACT Indore: Adolescents for Climate Transformation, a youth-teen movement to reimagine Indore as a city that cares and listens to its youth, values their ideas, and puts their well-being at the heart of urban planning. The project is led by Youth Ki Awaaz along with SHEDO Sansthan, AAs - Aim for the Awareness of Society and Start Up! in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). At YKA, we believe that when young people are seen, heard, and trusted, cities can transform into places that thrive and care. We have spent the past few months listening deeply to the experiences and perspectives of adolescents in Indore, and we have seen that for many young Indoris, climate is deeply personal; it’s the heat that keeps them from playing outside, the lack of safe spaces to meet friends, the stress of scarce water, or the feeling of being unheard. ACT Indore aims to create spaces where lived experiences inspire learning, leadership, and action. The #IndoreClimateLeague is showing what happens when local action meets collective imagination. It’s not just about cleaner streets, it’s about emotional safety, civic learning, and young people shaping the systems that shape them. #healthycitiesforadolescents #newhcaproject #actindore #youthvoices #climateaction #adolescentleadership Simran Pavecha Sonal Daftuar Harsh Dixit Nipunika Sachdeva Tanu Sonpali Aiswarya Padmanabhan Ishika Satwika
