A welcome move from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to widen participation of investors in InvITs. SEBI has lowered the minimum subscription size in privately placed InvITs to ₹25 lakh, bringing it in line with the trading lot size. This creates a harmonized framework between primary and secondary markets, making capital raising smoother and more inclusive. It will open up participation beyond large institutions, enabling HNIs, family offices, and private wealth platforms to directly access India’s infrastructure growth story. It will enhance liquidity and secondary market depth. As one of the largest InvITs in the country, we wekcome this as a milestone in democratising infrastructure investment. It will accelerate capital flows into essential sectors like power transmission, renewables, roads, and digital infrastructure—fuelling India’s growth trajectory. The financial landscape for affluent Indians is evolving rapidly, with a clear shift towards diversification and strategic portfolio management. Indian investors are actively putting their cash to work, reducing cash allocations to just 15%—the lowest in Asia—and increasing exposure to alternative investments, gold, and managed solutions like multi-asset strategies, according to HSBC’s 2025 Affluent Investor Snapshot 2025. Besides these, here are some key insights from the report that stayed with me: Globally, younger investors, especially Gen Z, are leading the charge, tripling their allocations to alternative assets over the past year. Indian investors are increasingly looking beyond domestic markets, aligning with a global trend where 4 in 10 affluent investors plan to invest internationally in the next 12 months. Despite global uncertainties, Indian investors remain optimistic. Over 90% are confident in achieving short-term goals, and 86% are confident in meeting long-term financial objectives. As I reflect on these findings, it’s clear that affluent Indians are adopting a more strategic, long-term approach to wealth management.
