Theobroma may have just claimed the top spot for the largest single cash exit by a woman founder in India(ChrysCapital is acquiring a 90% stake from the company’s promoters and ICICI Venture, for INR 2410/ $290 million) This deal would likely set a new benchmark for cash exits by women founders in India’s F&B segment and would rank at/ near the very top among all Indian women entrepreneurs in terms of a single business sale, NOT from the gradual wealth accumulation seen through IPOs or long-term holdings. In a country where women-led businesses still fight for a sliver of the capital pie, this is a landmark financial milestone for founders Kainaz and Tina Messman. Their achievement is especially remarkable in retrospect. For more than a decade, Kainaz struggled to find investors or even bank support to back them up. The breakthrough came at a 5 crore loan in 2014, which helped them take off their business to a spectacular height. 3 years later, ICICI Securities acquired 42% stake at INR130 cr. In less than a decade, ICICI is exiting fully with 3X returns and the founders are exiting 90% of their stakes. This is a precedent-setting event from all angles…strategic sale than IPO, new benchmark for valuation and high stakes PE deal. Today SEBI notified Accredited Investor only AIFs. This class of funds can not only take investors at a lower minimum (10 lakhs?) but will also not have a cap on 1,000 investors. Together these rules create a huge opportunity for retail investors to access alternative investments across venture capital, infrastructure, private equity and credit It is a SIF like moment once again.

Healthcare in India has quietly shifted. What was once a mission-led sector is now a PE-owned asset class. Most of the country’s leading hospitals are no longer promoter-led. They are backed by Private Equity funds chasing scale and returns. Temasek → Manipal Hospitals (MHEPL) Blackstone → CARE Hospitals, Quality CARE India Limited CVC / KKR → HealthCare Global General Atlantic → Ujala Cygnus Hospital KKR → Baby Memorial Hospitals This shift has undeniable positives: capital inflows, modern infrastructure, global best practices. But it also hardwires ROI targets into an industry built on empathy. And the trade-offs are visible: - Profitable procedures prioritized over basic care - Luxury patient experiences over affordability - Operational efficiency over emotional connect The sector needs growth capital - no doubt. But when healthcare becomes just another asset class, we risk eroding its very core: quality and accessibility for all. 📢 After 18 years, India finally got a credit rating upgrade. S&P Global just moved India’s sovereign credit rating from BBB - to BBB. The last upgrade? Way back in 2007. So what does this mean? Let’s break it down 👇 👉 What’s a sovereign credit rating? Think of it as a government’s credit score - a report card on how likely it is to repay loans. Governments borrow money (through bonds, IMF, World Bank, etc.), and investors want to know: “Will I get my money back?” 👉 What changed? ▪️ India’s debt-to-GDP ratio was ~90% in 2020–21 (COVID peak). It’s now ~83%. ▪️ The fiscal deficit (spending > income) blew up to 13.1% in 2020. It’s now 7.8%. ▪️ Growth is still strong at ~6.5%, among the best globally. ▪️ Tax revenues are slowly improving - 11.6% of GDP today, moving towards 12%. 👉 Why it matters ▪️ A better rating = more investor confidence. ▪️ India could get a bigger share in global bond indices (JPMorgan, Bloomberg). ▪️ That means billions of dollars flowing in, more liquidity, and lower borrowing costs for the government. ▪️ Markets already reacted: 10-year bond yields dipped from 6.51% → 6.40% right after the news. 👉 The challenges ahead ▪️ India still spends ~5% of GDP just on interest payments - more than on health or education. ▪️ Debt is nearly ₹197 lakh cr (centre) + ₹94 lakh cr (states) - double in 7 years. ▪️ To get another upgrade, India needs to keep its fiscal deficit consistently below 6% of GDP. ▪️ Right now, projections say ~6.6% by 2030. Close, but not there yet. 👉 The good news: Inflation has cooled to around 2%, RBI has cut rates, and that could support both growth and debt management in the short run. 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗜𝗣𝗢 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘇𝘆, 𝗱𝗼 𝗡𝗥𝗜𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁? India’s primary markets have been hot recently. August 2025 has been one of the busiest months with 40 companies launching IPOs across mainboard and SME platforms. IPO frenzy continues with Groww securing SEBI approval to launch its IPO, potentially raising up to $1 billion. NRIs find it difficult to participate in the IPO if they do not hold a NRI demat account (PIS/Non-PIS), NRE/NRO account or PAN card. There’s no publicly available data on NRI participation in IPOs. But going by the mutual fund numbers where NRI participation has declined from 2.9% to 2.3% between 2019 to 2024 while AUM doubled. The NRI participation in IPOs would have been lesser.  There could be many reasons,  📄Cumbersome paperwork to open a Demat account which includes notarising and couriering documents from abroad.  ↩️Diffculty in repatriation of funds abroad  💸Challenges in money movement IPO via GIFT City could improve access, streamline processes, and reduce friction for NRI investors to participate in India’s growth story. GIFT City, India’s international financial services hub, is gearing up to host IPOs specifically structured for global investors, including NRIs. DHRP for GIFT City’s first IPO is filed by XED Executive Development. The IPO could happen as early as Oct ‘25 and will be exclusive for NRIs and foreign investors.
