Elevation Capital launches $400 million late-stage fund to back IPO-bound startups 📌 Venture capital firm Elevation Capital, known for early bets on Paytm, Swiggy, Meesho, and Urban Company, is entering new territory. The firm has launched a $400 million fund focused on late-stage tech companies preparing for IPOs. ● The vehicle, called Elevation Holding, will cut cheques between $20 million and $50 million across 10–15 companies, Elevation Capital co-managing partner Mukul Arora told ET. ● This new fund will primarily back companies in the consumer and financial services segments with a technology focus, Arora added. ● The fund will run in parallel with its Fund VIII, a $670 million early-stage vehicle that invests $2–5 million in startups. Restaurant POS and management software provider Petpooja has raised ₹137 crore ($15.5 million) in its Series C round led by Dharana Capital, with participation from Helion Ventures co-founder Ashish Gupta and Urban Company’s co-founders Abhiraj Singh Bhal and Varun Khaitan. The round values the Ahmedabad-based company at around ₹910 crore ($103 million), marking a 3.5x jump from its previous valuation. Investment activity across India’s startup ecosystem gained further steam this week, buoyed by marquee deals. Between August 11 and 16, startups mopped up $272.1 Mn across 18 deals, up 38% from the $197.4 Mn garnered by 25 startups last week, even as deal count slipped 28%. Key Startup Funding Highlights Of The Week: 🔸 Riding on Truemeds’ mega funding round, healthtech emerged as the most funded sector this week, drawing $65 Mn. 🔸 Trailing healthtech, enterprise tech and consumer services saw two startups apiece bagging $61 Mn and $56.7 Mn, respectively, during the week. 🔸 The AI sector dominated dealmaking this week, with Graas.ai, Refold AI and Spike AI raising fresh funding rounds. 🔸 Peak XV emerged as the most active investor this week, writing cheques for startups such as Truemeds, Arintra, Dashverse and Graas.ai. The fund, which includes a ₹500 crore green-shoe option, will allocate 50% to startups, 30% to profitable SMEs, and 20% to real estate. Structured as a 10-year close-ended vehicle, it will invest in sectors like AI, SaaS, fintech, healthtech, defense, gaming, EVs, and renewable energy, with a special focus on Tier II and Tier III cities.
