✨ Launch of FDDI’s “India Design Language” Initiative ✨ Mr Vivek Sharma, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI launched India Design Language initiative honoring the vision of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, on his 75th birthday. The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) is proud to launch the “India Design Language – Footwear” initiative across all its pan-India campuses. Aligned with “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, this movement will document, revive, and globalize India’s regional footwear traditions while celebrating our artisans. 🔑 Key Objectives • Establish a unified identity for Indian footwear design. • Preserve & revive endangered artisanal crafts. • Empower artisans as co-creators in design development. • Engage students in hands-on workshops with artisans. • Create signature collections blending heritage + global fashion. • Showcase Indian craftsmanship on national & international platforms. • Promote sustainability & innovation in traditional footwear. According to the latest data, the first quarter of FY 2025–26 has seen an impressive 11.7% growth in ready-made garment (RMG) exports, reaching ₹12,193 crore (~US $1.42 billion) during April–June 2025. This growth is a significant indicator of the resilience, adaptability, and innovation embedded within Tirupur’s textile ecosystem. From MSMEs to large-scale exporters, the region’s stakeholders have continually upgraded capabilities — embracing lean manufacturing, digitization, and sustainable production practices — to stay competitive in the global market. As someone working closely in manufacturing transformation, I see this as more than just a number. It reflects: ✅ Strong global demand recovery ✅ Investments in factory modernization ✅ Compliance-driven operations and green practices ✅ Government and institutional support on trade facilitation Let’s take a moment to appreciate the thousands of workers, managers, entrepreneurs, and policy enablers who power Tirupur’s success story. Exciting developments from the Future Forward Factories initiative! H&M Foundation is committing SEK 53 million (EUR 5 million) in funding towards Future Forwards Factories, the pioneering collaborative initiative led by Fashion for Good and Arvind Limited. With their contribution, H&M Foundation joins the initiative’s anchor funders Laudes Foundation, Apparel Impact Institute and IDH as a main funder. Launched earlier this year together with apparel manufacturer Arvind Limited as anchor partner, Future Forward Factories aims to deliver an open-source blueprint to decarbonising apparel manufacturing, with Arvind's first demonstrator facility in Gujarat, India, showing what near net zero looks like in practice.   “Future Forward Factories is a critical step in driving system-level change... laying the foundation for a more resilient and regenerative future for fashion.” – Katrin Ley, Managing Director, Fashion for Good.
