We kicked off ASK - Advancing Skills and Knowledge - our new internal learning and support forum for the Advancement, Alumni Engagement, and External Relations teams, with an inspiring first session led by Rakesh Dubbudu. Rakesh is a prominent Indian open data evangelist, Right to Information (RTI) activist, and the co-founder of FACTLY, a well-regarded data journalism and public information portal. With a focus on designing, updating, and using better data for Donors, Alumni, and External Partners, he got the teams to think of transitioning from “what we jot down today” to “what we’ll wish we had in 2030”. He got the teams to start thinking of future-ready data points that enable sharper segmentation, personalised stewardship, and evidence-based outreach. Another benefit was exposure to public data sets that could support and strengthen our colleagues' efforts in achieving their goals. What made this extra special is that ASK is designed by the team with topics chosen by colleagues themselves, ensuring that every session builds skills we truly need.
