⚡️ India’s Power Grid: Flexibility and Decentralisation Will Define the Future As India commissions solar capacity at a record pace, the conversation must shift from how much we add to how well we manage it. 🇮🇳India’s Production Linked Incentive (#PLI) scheme for the #solar #photovoltaic (#PV) #manufacturing #sector. Solar PV module manufacturing capacity under the #PLI scheme has reached 18.6GW, while #cell-making capacity is close to 10GW. By June 30, 2025, the #PLI-linked capacity comprises: - 18.5GW of #solar #modules, - 9.7GW of #solar #cells, - 2.2GW of #solar #ingot-#wafers. These numbers come from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (#ALMM) and official manufacturer info. Under the #first tranche of the #PLI for High Efficiency Solar PV Modules, Letters of Award (#LoA) have been issued to three major bidders: #Shirdi Sai Electricals, #Reliance Industries, and #Adani New Industries—covering 8.737GW of fully integrated PV #manufacturing. The second tranche awarded LoA to 11 bidders for 39.6 #GW of new, mostly integrated PV module capacity. The current installed #cell manufacturing capacity in India is 26.35 #GW, which the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) seeks to expand to about 42 GW by June 1, 2026. The #PLI scheme prioritizes #high-efficiency solar PVs and aims to boost domestic production, reducing India’s import dependency. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (#MNRE) has also issued policy guidelines to further promote domestic manufacturing. #Solar module imports dropped sharply from $3.42billion in #FY22 to $2.15billion in #FY25, indicating a move towards #domestic #manufacturing.
