Compare: • Base shear • Storey drift • Moment/shear in critical members • Stability checks (especially overturning in wind) Sometimes, wind governs lateral drift, while earthquake governs member forces. ⸻ 🛠️ Example (Quick Comparison): Structure: G+10 RCC building in Ahmedabad (Zone 3, Wind Speed = 44 m/s) • Dead Load: 8.5 kN/m² • Seismic Base Shear (EQ): ~0.07W • Wind Pressure: ~1.2 kN/m² 📌 In this case: • Wind governs serviceability (drift) • Earthquake governs strength and detailing So, both loads matter – but in different design criteria. ⸻——————————————————— 🔚 Final Thought Don’t just follow the default settings in software.
