Joined as a volunteer in 2018 & 2019 edition. Started the DesignUp Scholarship for Storytellers to support sketchnoting, writing, photography & new media installation enthusiasts to experience the conference (full access + paid travel & stay + mentoring sessions).

Collaborated on the Deconstruct (2019) Study & Report — first such lens to understand the Design-in-tech community in India & SE Asia. Helped with Data Wrangling, Analysis & Visualization of the report. The final result was presented at the 2019 conference and made available as a digital & printed report.
Volunteered for organizing DesignUpForACause during the COVID second-wave in India. Spoke about design education in a panel discussion & managed Q&A + discussions in all the sessions.

The game is based on real life maze concept. Gameplay requires user to hop around a plane arena, replicating motion as a pattern in game. Presented during the Droidcon'11 Hacknight.

Why I don’t ask people to think aloud in evaluative research 💭 The ‘think aloud’ method has been a staple of usability testing for decades. But in my experience, the way a lot of researchers use it can introduce some issues: 🚫 Some participants take it too literally, narrating every tiny action. This isn’t how they’d behave at home. 🚫 It makes an already unnatural setting feel even less realistic. 🚫 Once someone starts overanalysing, it’s very hard to bring them back. Instead: ✅ Most participants will talk naturally if you just observe them. ✅ If they’re quiet, you can nudge with simple prompts like “what are you thinking?” I’ve found this leads to more authentic behaviour and better insights than briefing people to ‘think aloud’ from the start. 📨 I cover this in more detail in this week's Desk Notes, my free newsletter. This is very interesting and shows vision. The fragmented landscape of tools for US citizens and international users are not nearly good enough. Fundamentals like a unified and polished design system with UX telemetry (anonymized) and with basics like IAM and federated log in might make the biggest short term impact. My hope is that it is focused on everyday beautiful essentials and is fully non-partisan. Democracy and access are the greatest opportunities here.. New, from me: Hiring for Creativity in a World of UX Design Systems https://lnkd.in/gJY-Efdn Leaders depend on designers who can work within system constraints that demand assembly‑level consistency, yet when hiring, they value candidates who challenge assumptions, reframe problems, and propose unexpected solutions. Portfolios, however, often show neither, a gap many managers attribute to the rapid‑training pipelines of contemporary bootcamps. Managers express concern that the systems enabling efficient production may be narrowing the range of skills they see when hiring, leaving a profession caught between creative ideals and the industrial machinery shaping modern product design. State of Design and AI in 2025 The boundary between PM, UX, and Dev isn’t just blurring, it’s collapsing. The age of “just being a designer” is coming to an end. We are no longer stylists of ideas we are becoming makers of products. And AI has drawn a hard line in front of us: Design with AI – those who master it will work at the speed of thought, amplifying their craft with powerful no-code and AI-driven tools. Design for AI – those who shape how humans and AI coexist will define the future. This is a broader role and responsibility. Design for AI goes beyond craft, it’s about shaping coexistence, demanding skills in systems thinking, ethics, data, and psychology. Everything else? Will slowly become irrelevant? In current mainstream design practices, chiefs manage strategies to support the business model, design leaders manage the design process, and senior/junior designers deliver a product (or service, environment, system, etc.). In this context, design leaders and designers have to prioritize identifying profitable biases to deliver a product that captures value. However, the generation of value for people is often limited, and they have to endure a product that often deceives them. In a desirable mainstream design practice, design leaders and designers are more strategic and manage up by questioning and influencing their managers. Designers would be more effective at gathering actionable human insights, and people would become collaborators. In this view, people desire products that satisfy them.
