🌐 Building bridges in the Balkans: strengthening the digital ecosystem together. Our network engineering delegation is back from the mission in the Balkans. Francesco Ferreri, Marta Burocchi, and our CTO Flavio Luciani are working on something we’re really excited about. For many years, #Namex has been actively supporting other #IXPs in the Western Balkans with technical expertise and ecosystem development. Today, we’re proud to announce a new significant milestone: a memorandum of understanding with #IXP.mk, the Internet Exchange Point in Skopje, North Macedonia, operated by the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering - Skopje and Univerzitet 'Sv. Kiril i Metódij' vo Skopje. 🙏 A special thanks goes to FLEXOPTIX GmbH for their fundamental support to this pro-bono initiative, providing materials at cost price. ✍️ The MOU was signed by Prof. Petre Lameski for IXP.mk and our CEO Maurizio Goretti for Namex. It’s a two-year partnership, a comprehensive collaboration framework that includes: - Technical expertise and equipment support for IXP.mk development - Educational activities and continuous training programs - Technical community development in computer networks and cybersecurity - Joint events focused on topics relevant to the Mediterranean region - Research and development projects between our expert teams This is what interconnection is about: sharing knowledge, building capacity, and creating a more resilient digital infrastructure across borders. 🌍 From MoU to Mission: Namex team in the Balkans Partnerships matter when they leave the paper and enter the field. This week our engineering team is in #Pristina, turning commitment into action together with our colleagues at #KOSIX, the Kosovo Internet Exchange. Back in May, our CEO Maurizio Goretti signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nazim Rahimi of ARKEP (Kosovo’s Regulatory Authority). Today, our CTO Flavio Luciani together with our senior network engineers Francesco Ferreri and Marta Burocchi are on site to make it real with the support of Rinor Raci. What we’re delivering: 🔧 Upgrading KOSIX’s technical infrastructure 👥 Training and capacity building for local engineers 🌐 Sharing best practices for regional interconnection This hands-on mission is possible thanks to the support of the Internet Society Foundation (ISOC), whose dedicated grant is powering the upgrade of KOSIX’s critical systems and thanks to Namex members who support and encourage our pro-bono activities.
