#Leonardo has signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the South African Ministry of Economic Development (Department of Trade, Industry and Competition - DTIC) to explore new business opportunities in cooperation with local companies and institutions, delivering mutual industrial benefits, while also meeting national investment and offset obligation requirements.   The agreement follows a series of initiatives aimed at expanding the collaboration between Leonardo and local players, potentially extending it to sectors such as #EarthObservation and #CyberSecurity. Also discussed were the ongoing collaborations in the field of defence electronics and the new potential activities related to the expansion of the aeronautics sector.   “This new partnership represents a meaningful milestone for Leonardo’s presence in the country as well as the operational platform for a strengthened role and footprint in the African continent in terms of industrial relations and joint business development,” stated Enrico Savio, General Manager of Leonardo International. Leonardo has an established presence in South Africa with commercial, defence and public service-dedicated helicopters, as well as air traffic control systems. The company’s local subsidiary Leonardo South Africa, headquartered at Wonderboom Airport – Pretoria, primarily manages helicopter maintenance and logistics for the entire Sub-Saharan African commercial market.
