Leonardo, through e-GEOS, will support the Department for Sustainable Development (#DiSS) of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica) in the development of a #DigitalTwin of the Italian territory. The initiative falls under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) investment M2C4 I.1.1, which focuses on the development of an advanced monitoring and forecasting system. This high-resolution digital model of the terrain, built using airborne laser surveys (#LiDAR) and aerogravimetric data, will serve as a strategic asset for understanding the morphology of the land and will lay the foundation for future Digital Twins capable of simulating and further studying its behaviour. The DiSS project aims to enhance the morphological knowledge of Italian territory and gravity field at a national level, relying on cutting-edge geoinformation solutions and the proven expertise of the #Leonardo Group, a recognized leader in the sector for its technical skill and innovation capacity. In this context, the development of a model of the entire national territory represents a key enabler for a safer and more sustainable Italy, providing an unprecedented level of precision in understanding both surface and subsurface characteristics. #Duediligence Alert: The Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) has fined #GiorgioArmani SpA and GA Operations SpA €3.5 million for misleading ethical and social responsibility statements that didn't reflect the actual working conditions at suppliers and subcontractors to whom production had been outsourced. This follows the #Dior case a few months ago. The AGCM cited declarations in the Armani Code of Ethics, the Armani Values website (www.armanivalues.com) and the Armani website (www.Armani.com). Giorgio Armani SpA responded with surprise and plans to challenge the decision in the Regional Administrative Court (TAR), stating that they have always operated in fairness and transparency. This is the latest in the growing list of cases brought by competition authorities in France and Italy against companies whose #humanrights and #environmental claims are vague, unsubstantiated or false. It's important to note that the crux of the matter in each case was the failure to conduct due diligence, including the tracing and verification of production sites and standards. EU due diligence laws may be in flux, but prosecutors and competition authorities are reminding us that the risks to consumers, investors, companies and stakeholders are real. What should companies do now? Doubling down on announced audits of known suppliers will achieve nothing. This is not about the knowns, it's about the unknowns, the risks of subcontracting, of price-driven corner-cutting. Companies need to ask themselves how they may be causing or contributing to supplier attempts to evade labour laws, collective agreements, taxes and social security contributions. In short, companies need better risk identification, then they can target their audits. UniTS hosts the second edition of the International Summer School "Sustainability and Digitalization in the Blue Economy", promoted within the framework of the iNEST - Ecosistema dell'Innovazione del Nord Est (funded by the #PNRR – #NextGenerationEU) and the Interreg Italy–Croatia MareSkill project. The initiative involves DEAMS - Dipartimento di Scienze Economiche, Aziendali, Matematiche e Statistiche "Bruno de Finetti", the Department of Engineering and Architecture (DIA), and the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences (MIGe), with the support of OGS – National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics and the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. This international Summer School, held entirely in English, welcomes 28 Master's and PhD students from Iran, Croatia, Serbia, Pakistan, Ghana, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Morocco, Moldova, and Italy. The program provides a multidisciplinary education on sustainability and digitalization in the #BlueEconomy, with a special focus on port systems, shipbuilding, maritime transport, and marine resource management. The agenda includes lectures, workshops, group activities, and a series of company and technical visits to key sites such as the Port of Trieste, the Groupe Beneteau Italia, the FINCANTIERI SpA shipyard in Monfalcone, the water system in San Giovanni di Duino, and the wastewater treatment plant managed by AcegasApsAmga. These visits offer participants the opportunity to explore the technologies, processes, and sustainable strategies adopted by leading industrial and infrastructural hubs in the Blue Economy that represent international excellence. Italgas’ Board of Directors approved the consolidated results for the first half of 2025. "The results for the first half of 2025 demonstrate the Group’s industrial and financial strength: with adjusted EBITDA up 28% and adjusted net profit increasing by over 31%, we have demonstrated our ability to generate value in a consistent and sustainable manner. Investments reached half a billion euros and were mainly focused on the networks, making them increasingly smart and thus capable of handling different types of gas, both fossil and renewable in origin." Today, Prysmian's Chief Strategy Officer Cristina Bifulco took part in the Euronext Sustainability Week of Borsa Italiana. The discussion, also with the panelists Chiara Mosca, Francesco Starace and followed a keynote from Carlo Alberto Carnevale-Maffè from SDA Bocconi. It was moderated by the Chair of Borsa Italiana, Claudia Parzani. Exploring from simplification to competitiveness: the discussion underlined the key role companies, institutions and regulation have, in harmony, to inspire innovation that can help Europe compete on the global stage.
