A truly remarkable milestone for Mission 300 this week. 17 additional countries presented their National Energy Compacts at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Forum in New York. As Mission 300 expands, these nations have committed to country-tailored, actionable and time-bound roadmaps designed to drive electrification and create jobs across Africa. Delighted to see Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, the Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, São Tomé and Principe, Sierra Leone, and Togo on board Mission 300. Witnessing countries, development partners, and the private sector come together with a shared goal of connecting 30 million people in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030 is truly inspiring and a testament to Africa’s strength and determination.   Together with the African Development Bank Group and partners, the The World Bank Group is on a critical journey to #PoweringAfrica – an ambitious mission, certainly, but one that is already delivering tangible results and changing people’s lives. With electricity, children can study after dark, young entrepreneurs can follow their dreams and businesses thrive while economies grow. 🌐 As official aid declines, African development banks are stepping up with innovative tools such as bond issuances and securitisation to fill the gap. The African Development Fund’s plan to access global markets in 2027 is a milestone in this journey.   For Finance in Common Chair Rémy Rioux, the lesson is clear: “The world of Public Development Banks has been fragmented too long.”   By standardising practices, scaling bond issuance, and fostering collaboration between large and small institutions, we can unlock far greater impact. 🎤 We are pleased that David Moore, Director, Private Equity Partnerships at Blue Earth Capital, will be speaking at the AVCA Sustainable Investing in Africa Summit in London next Thursday, 16 October.   Organized by AVCA - The African Private Capital Association, the summit provides a platform to discuss the role of private capital in advancing sustainable development across the continent. Now in its fourth year, the summit explores emerging trends, evolving ESG practices, and innovative approaches under the theme “The Capital Imperative: Turning Intent into Action”.   David will be part of the panel “Turning Intent into Action: Africa’s Sustainable Investment Journey” at 16:25 (BST). Together with the other panelists, he will discuss how fund managers are embedding sustainability into core strategies, what an enabling environment looks like, and how regulators, investors, and society can work together to drive impact.
