What a throw by Shimbo! As the world's top para athletes competed in New Delhi, ASICS employee Yamato Shimbo claimed silver in the men’s F37 discus throw. With his final attempt of 54.50m, Shimbo set a new national record and claimed 2nd place overall, improving on his 4th place finish at last year’s Paralympic Games in Paris. Shimbo balances his HR role at ASICS in Japan with a career as an athlete, using our Athlete Authorization System to arrange his schedule around sporting competition. At the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, he was cheered on by a group of 30 supporters from ASICS HQ in Japan and ASICS India, and later attended a special ceremony at the ASICS India office. Congratulations on your medal, Shimbo-san – you’re an inspiration for every athlete who balances work and competition. #TeamASICS

Feeling that ASICS energy in Tokyo! Once a year, ASICS executives gather for three days of discussion and strategic alignment. Global Summit is a key part of our transformation into a Global Integrated Enterprise. Our latest Global Summit took place during the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, making it especially energetic! As well as watching the action at the stadium, some of our executives also ran the famous 5K circuit around the Tokyo Imperial Palace. The agenda at this summit included the ASICS Running Ecosystem, profit margin improvement, and supply chain improvements aimed at zero inventory. Overall, this was a great opportunity to align on our strategy as we build on the momentum from the World Athletics Championships and make moves towards formalizing our next Mid-Term Plan. Thanks to all of our global leaders who brought their energy to this summit!

On this International Day of the Girl, let’s talk about sport – or why so many teenage girls drop out of Physical Education. In the UK, 64% of girls stop playing sport before the age of 16, affecting their physical and mental wellbeing now and in the future. One major reason is the traditional PE kit. Research shows that 70% of 14 to 16-year-old girls in the UK would be more likely to take part in PE if their kit made them feel more comfortable. In response, ASICS worked with Burnley High School to create the Undropped Kit. Watch these teenage girls help us design a PE kit they actually want to wear, so they can feel comfortable and confident, and stay in sport. #DayoftheGirl #MoveYourBodyMoveYourMind

Our latest running shoes launch with a bounce 🫧 For three days in September, ASICS transformed the Gate M Silo at West Bund, Shanghai, into a pop-up experience celebrating the Bounce Technology in our latest BLAST family of performance running shoes. The giant lavender airbags were modeled after our midsole material technology and echo the colorways of the four shoe models. The “technology factory” interior recreated four different running scenarios – city, track, road, and speed racing – with four interactive challenges inspired by the unique properties of each shoe model. ASICS athletes from China and other countries also contributed recorded messages, sharing their personal Bounce Energy stories. The result? More than 3000 visitors, 600 media mentions, and almost 50 million impressions in the space of a few days. That’s how to launch with a bounce. #ASICSRunning

It’s always great to be back. This time for the tennis and a visit to ASICS America! Earlier this month I was in New York to witness the evolution of tennis as a spectator sport. Celebrities, entertainment, sell-out crowds – plus non-sports brands becoming increasingly active in this space. Ticket prices and prize money are off the scale, with $5 million going to this year’s singles champions. Tennis has never been a bigger part of our shared culture. Tennis is a priority sport globally at ASICS and we had another strong showing at this Grand Slam. Four players contracted to ASICS made the last eight of the men’s singles. There was also the opening of the ASICS House of Tennis and the excitement generated by our Night Energy Collection. Great work by our entire tennis team! My US trip included a visit to LA, which is where I went to college and still feel a deep connection. It’s also a special place for ASICS. The city of Irvine in Orange County has been our base on the west coast for more than 40 years and the photos below were taken during an All-Hands with our fantastic Irvine team. Under the leadership of Koichiro Kodama, ASICS America has weathered some tough times and emerged stronger for it. A renewed focus on partnerships with run specialty stores has helped make ASICS once again a brand favored by serious runners. And on top of traditional sports such as running and tennis, we’re seeing strong growth in trail running, pickleball, and our lifestyle category SportStyle. North America is a fascinating market where so many new trends are born and the lines between sports, leisure, and entertainment are constantly being redrawn. At ASICS, we’re immensely proud of our decades-long history in this market. Our teams in Irvine and Boston are very much part of this heritage, while also writing its future with running apps and other digital innovations that we can’t wait to share with you. With so much talent on both coasts, ASICS America is in good hands.

The least visible part of a shoe design? The patent. Meet Ling Yu HSU, IP Specialist at ASICS. Ling Yu grew up in Taiwan and later moved to Japan to study business. She joined ASICS in 2022 and is now based at our HQ in Kobe: “I work in the Intellectual Property Department, where I primarily manage patents and design rights. Specifically, I collaborate with the development and design teams to prepare patent and design applications and manage communication with patent offices.” As a fan of rock climbing, mountain climbing, and boxing, Ling Yu believes sports have a unique ability to bring people together. As an IP professional, she’s passionate about working alongside development teams to create products that enhance safety and performance. One of her first contributions at ASICS was to help secure a patent for the ACTIBREEZE™ 3D SANDAL, the world’s coolest super-sandal, which is designed to help athletes recover in the after-performance phase. Ling Yu points out that patents are not easy to obtain. The process can involve multiple rounds of consultation with product development teams, external patent attorneys, and national patent offices: “Merely submitting a patent application does not grant rights immediately; there is a rigorous examination process, and if the examiner finds reasons to reject the application, we are notified. In such cases, I analyze the feedback and assess the validity of the examiner's objections.” Ling Yu has become a key member of a team that won a major award this year for its strategic use of IP to increase corporate value and brand value at ASICS. Patents are a form of “upstream” IP that creates long-term business value. Ling Yu’s role has recently expanded to include “downstream” trademark protection and counterfeit investigations, fulfilling her goal of supporting our IP from all angles. Thank you, Ling Yu, for sharing your story with us! Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gvWPy4us #TeamASICS #LifeAtASICS

You ran. We planted. Back in April, we asked you to Run for Reforestation. An incredible number of you completed a 5K activity in the ASICS Runkeeper app. Watch to find out how many trees we’re planting this year in partnership with One Tree Planted. To achieve a Sound Mind in a Sound Body, we need a Sound Earth. #RunForReforestation #SoundEarth
