Honda has received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 2025 Industrial Standardization Project Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in recognition of its achievements in international standardization across various fields, including motorcycles and automobiles. In the motorcycle sector, Honda has demonstrated global leadership by serving as the International Chair of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee since 1973—a position it has held for over half a century. In the automotive sector, Honda has contributed to the development of ISO standards essential for the introduction of Level 3 autonomous driving and has helped clarify the differences in fuel efficiency and output between hybrid vehicles—an area of Japanese expertise—and conventional gasoline vehicles. Furthermore, Honda was recognized for promoting standardization activities from the research stage in technologies related to aviation fuel and the realization of zero traffic fatalities. Honda has launched four new Honda Lite models meeting the new Class-1 moped standards in Japan. The new standard expands the Class 1 moped category to include vehicles with engine displacements over 50 cc and up to 125 cc, with a maximum output of 4.0 kW or less.
