The U.S. training program in late February will offer the cohort meaningful opportunities to build connections, exchange ideas, and strengthen their leadership journey.
「TOMODACHI SMBC シャカカチリーダーシッププログラム」は、社会課題の解決に意欲を持ち、アクションを起こしたいと考える大学生を対象としたプログラムです。グローバルマインドセットをもって社会にポジティブな変化をもたらす次世代リーダーの育成を目的とし、プログラム期間を通じてSMBCグループの社員がナビゲーターとして学生を支援します。10月から約半年間をかけて、対面での社会的価値創造研修、オンラインでのリーダーシップ研修、複数回のナビゲーターとの個別面談を行ってきていて、いよいよ2月の下旬に、参加者は米国研修へ旅立ちます！現地での学びや対話を通じ、次世代リーダーとしてさらに成長した姿で帰国することを期待しています。 TOMODACHI SMBC Shaka-kachi Leadership Program is designed for university students who are eager to address social issues and take concrete action. The program aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will drive positive societal change with a global mindset. Throughout the program, SMBC Group employees serve as navigators, providing guidance and support to participants. Over the course of approximately six months since October, the participants have engaged in in-person Social Value Creation Trainings, online leadership workshops, and multiple individual meetings with navigators. In late February, the group of participants will depart for the U.S. training program! We are proud to announce that Kohei Kuroda, Deputy Head of the Finance & Strategic Planning Department in SMBC Group Americas Division, has been appointed to the IFRS Advisory Council (IFRSAC) as the first representative from a Japanese bank. Kohei was recommended by Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, reflecting his long-standing contributions to advancing accounting standards. His experience spans standard-setting and disclosure initiatives with the Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ), the Japan Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA), the Japan Exchange Group (JPX), as well as engagement with IASB and ISSB. The IFRSAC provides strategic advice to the IFRS Foundation, IASB, and ISSB. As one of Japan’s two delegates, Kohei will help bring Japan’s perspectives on the development of global accounting and sustainability standards.

Following record CLO issuance in 2025, SMBC’s CLO leadership team, including Christine Ferris, Anusha Joly, and Mussie Tizazu, welcomed global CLO managers, investors, and market participants to discuss the role CLOs play in global credit markets, including long-term opportunities in Asia.
