The Courage to Keep Showing Up Some people lead by position. Others, like Raila Odinga, lead by conviction. Kenya has lost a giant. But beyond the tributes and headlines, there was a man of quiet faith, fierce purpose and remarkable endurance. He was detained, defeated, doubted and still kept showing up. That wasn’t stubbornness. It was belief. In democracy. In justice. In Kenya. He never wore the presidential crown, yet few have led as courageously. His strength was matched by his warmth — a devoted husband, a proud father and a man whose humour and humanity softened even his critics. We rarely speak of the cost of conviction — the years away from family, the exhaustion, the constant rebuilding. Yet that is where his greatness lay: in his resilience, not perfection. Raila proved that true leadership isn’t about power, it’s about purpose — about standing firm when it would be easier to step back. He taught us that courage is quiet, kindness is strength, and conviction never retires. The sun sets, but it's light remains. So does legacy. #RailaOdinga #Baba #Leadership #Kenya #Legacy #Inspiration #Conviction #NeverGiveUp #Courage #PurposeDriven

Jane Goodall’s passing at 91 leaves the world a little quieter - but her message couldn’t be louder. She was a beautiful person inside and out, with a kindness and humility that touched everyone she met. She taught us that compassion is strength, that hope is action and that we don’t need to wait for someone else to make change. We can begin right here, in our own communities. She showed that one person with courage and care can inspire millions. What a legacy she has left us all. The best way to honour her? Take a small step today. Plant a tree. Teach a child. Protect what’s on your doorstep. Here’s to Jane — a life well lived, and a light we must carry forward. 💚 #JaneGoodall #Legacy #HopeInAction #Conservation #Inspiration #Community

Kilifi Gold Triathlon – more than a race!! This year By Appointment Africa had the privilege of sponsoring the Kilifi Gold Triathlon and what an event it was! Yes, it’s a tough course: a swim across Kilifi Creek, a cycle through dusty tracks and a run cheered on by the whole town. But what makes it truly special is the cause behind it. This year the triathlon raised an incredible KES 1 million to fund 30 all-terrain wheelchairs for children in Kilifi living with mobility challenges. Not standard chairs that can’t cope with sandy paths, but ones designed for our environment, built to give freedom, dignity and independence which is why we wanted to be involved. For us, it wasn’t just about putting our name on a banner, it was about standing alongside a community event that blends sport, spirit and impact in the most genuine way. Watching those exhausted but smiling athletes cross the finish line, you can’t help but feel inspired. Everyone pushing hard, but all for something bigger than themselves. We’re proud to have played a small part – and even prouder that the outcome will roll on long after the race is done. #ByAppointmentAfrica #KilifiGoldTriathlon #KGT2025 #RecruitmentWithPurpose #EastAfrica #CommunityImpact #SportsForChange #Kenya #BAA

If you spend your day copy-pasting, AI has already packed your desk. But if you spend it thinking, creating and connecting - you’re still very much in business. AI is changing the way we work at lightning speed. Some jobs are disappearing, new ones are being created and most roles are being reshaped in ways we are only just beginning to understand. Jobs at risk: The first to go are the predictable routine roles. Data entry clerks, switchboard-style customer service and certain admin functions are already being swallowed up by automation. Even parts of law, finance and medicine are being streamlined by systems that can churn through data faster and cheaper than we ever could. Where the opportunities are: This isn’t just a story of loss. It’s also one of opportunity. Roles like AI trainers, prompt writers, ethics officers and data curators are already in demand. More importantly the qualities that make us human - empathy, creativity and the ability to think laterally are becoming more valuable not less. AI can do the heavy lifting but it cannot build relationships, spark ideas or make judgement calls with the same depth we can. Who holds the reins? The question is who’s responsible for making sure AI is used fairly, safely and transparently? Governments, regulators and employers have a role but so does each one of us. We can’t just leave it to the tech companies. Every individual needs to understand the tools they’re working with and how to use them responsibly. This is not about fearing AI, it’s about being smart with it. Learn enough to know how it works. Stay curious. Keep building the skills no machine can replicate. AI will only be as ethical and effective as the humans guiding it. Handled wisely the opportunities will far outweigh the risks.
