According to the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) 2014, there have been some improvements, but major gaps remain. On International Widows Day, Polycom Girls together with Womankind Worldwide joins forces with Kanyipir Widows United in Homa Bay to honor the resilience, strength, and dignity of widows in our communities. This partnership amplifies grassroots voices and advances the Generation Equality Forum (GEF) agenda, specifically aligning with the Action Coalition on Feminist Action for Economic Justice and Gender-Based Violence. In line with GEF’s commitment to inclusive, intersectional gender equality, we are localizing global goals through community-driven storytelling and dialogues. Using our vibrant comic book as a transformative tool, we spark conversations that center widows—often marginalized in gender equality discussions—as leaders, mothers, and changemakers. “Widows are not just survivors; they are leaders, mothers, and changemakers.
