Ten days ago, at the #IUCNCongress, the Atlas on African Protected Areas was launched at the Africa Regional Centres of Excellence (ArcX) booth at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi. The landmark publication showcases data-driven insights into the state of protected and conserved areas across the continent. 👏 Congratulations to the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) team on this remarkable achievement; uniting the expertise of the #BIOPAMA project and the broader European Union supported conservation initiatives across the continent to strengthen knowledge and action for protected areas. Last week, the curtains closed on the #IUCNCongress in Abu Dhabi, a gathering that united leaders, scientists, and communities to elevate ambition, accelerate action, and scale up transformative solutions for people and nature. Today, 15th October, Connel Cheptumo represented the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) at the Kenya Cash Consortium Review Workshop held at Swiss-Belinn Hotel, Nairobi. RCMRD was invited as a technical institution to share insights on how geospatial technologies are being applied to address climate-related impacts on livelihoods. Through its work, RCMRD supports governments and partners to use satellite data, mapping, and spatial analysis to better understand vulnerabilities, design targeted interventions, and strengthen community resilience against the effects of climate change. RCMRD signs MoU with RainbirdGEO! RCMRD and RainbirdGEO have signed an MoU to strengthen collaboration in key areas such as Data sharing and collection, Capacity building in AfriGEO priority action areas The partnership will also facilitate the development of space technology-related applications and enhance capacity in GIS, Remote Sensing, and Space Science across Africa. #9thAfriGEOSymposium

At the opening of the 9th AfriGEO Symposium, our DG Dr Emmanuel Nkurunziza highlighted AfriGEO 's role in advancing Africa’s Agenda 2063 – The Africa We Want.
