The Kenya National Agroforestry Strategy (2025–2035) serves as a crucial framework for implementing agroforestry in Kenya, aiming to promote sustainable land use and enhance the livelihoods of all Kenyans. Despite the increasing acknowledgment of agroforestry's benefits, its integration into national policies and institutional frameworks remains limited. The strategy is built upon 6 thematic areas: - Policy, Legal, and Institutional Frameworks - Finance and Investment - Education, Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Management - Agroforestry Value Chain Development - Climate Change Action - Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion These areas are essential for fostering a comprehensive approach to agroforestry that can significantly impact the country's environmental and socio-economic landscape.

Partners in Food Solutions
At New York Climate Week, PFS CEO Mandla Nkomo joined (virtually) a roundtable on the new Africa Adapted Crops Initiative (AACI), hosted by AGRA and Food Action Alliance , in collaboration with TechnoServe and Bain & Company. This builds on an earlier roundtable at the AFS Forum in Dakar, bringing together leaders from governments, funders, farmer organizations, and research institutions on the need for food systems transformation in Africa. Adapted crops — like millet, sorghum, and fonio — are nutrient-dense, climate-resilient, and rooted in Africa’s food traditions. By mainstreaming and commercializing these crops, we can strengthen food systems, build resilient livelihoods, and meet growing demand for nutritious foods across Africa and globally. That’s the vision behind AACI: unlocking the global market potential of adapted crops through new partnership models connecting the public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
