The Story Behind FedWins™ and Purple Hat Analysis As someone who spent 30 years in federal acquisition, I often saw good proposals fail to cross that chasm into outstanding territory, and I always thought something was missing in the process that vendors typically use. By the time a proposal gets to the Red Team review, it could be too late to do major course corrections because it's already a near-final product. Federal capture teams need something mixed in between Blue and Red Teams and outside of the traditional Black Hat analysis. That’s what led me to build the FedWins™ model and what I call Purple Hat Analysis. Through structured prompt engineering, it guides AI to think like the evaluation board: scoring, comparing, and stress-testing the logic behind a proposal from the perspective of the government team that will be reviewing it. FedWins™ replicates the evaluator’s mindset early and upfront to inform strategy, competitive analysis, storyboarding, and the draft proposal. FedWins™ is a simulator for proposal strategy, augmenting capture team capacity with a virtual evaluator in the room. Purple Hat Analysis sits at the intersection of strategy and evaluation where capture insight meets scoring logic. The goal of FedWins™ is to help capture teams think like evaluators, compete with clarity, and win with confidence.
