China dominates drones (DJI), dominates NextG (Huawei), dominates social algorithms (TikTok), dominates construction (China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (CSCEC), dominates manufacturing, dominates shipbuilding, dominates global supply chains, dominates high-speed rail (Beijing HENGXIN Express Kunming Branch), dominates EV vehicles (BYD), and dominates the city of the future (Xiongan, Shenzhen, . . . ), Robots (Unitree Robotics), now DeepSeek AI? The United States has the world's leading Defense Industrial Complex; it is now time to build the largest INNOVATION Industrial Complex. The Defense Contractors house the largest concentration of brilliant scientists and engineers in the world. Many could be repurposed toward a national program focused on Dual-Use innovations that are critical for Defense and Civil systems. Heavily focused on building and maintaining the physical world. If by dominate you mean does the most volume then sure. But they don’t dominate quality. Or innovation. Or safety. Most of the companies are state owned-controlled and they do volume because they have a monopoly in the Chinese market. I’ll take Tesla over BYD. Bechtel over CSCE. I’ll take American innovation over Chinese plagiarism. I’ll take safe jobsites over deadly ones. China ain’t all that. Let’s pump the brakes with giving them their flowers.

Oh, I am awake. I am watching the techno-fascist regime architect the foundation of its own version of the China model in real time. History teaches that central planning and control never works in the end. We should be exploiting this weakness, not attempting to bastardize it….

While China's dominance in multiple sectors is undeniable, the real question is how other nations can build resilient, innovation-driven ecosystems that foster technological leadership. The U.S. has the talent and infrastructure—strategic investments in AI, semiconductor manufacturing, and sustainable digital infrastructure will be key. Collaboration between industry, government, and academia can accelerate the shift from a defense-focused industrial complex to a future-proof innovation ecosystem. Exciting times ahead for global technology competition!"

Jeffrey DeCoux Great observations and much of those labtech & no-market-yet stage from china is on the left-side of hype-curve looking for growth and maturity... The US Industrial clusters needs to leverage tech-trends, solutions and products with its wide market reach, potentials globally. They may need better cross-product integrations, quality and maturity features and it can be done today's faster QC based compute and AI/ML combined with superior management frameworks. The future looks very bright !!
