How well are you? Is the world well? As the world grapples with numerous challenges, we advocate for seeing sustainability as a means, not an end, and the well-being of all as the ultimate goal. In his masterclass "Sustainability's Next Chapter is Well-being", Prof Lawrence Loh, Director, NUS Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) and Executive Director, Well-being and EESG Alliance (WEGA), introduced a conceptual framework for driving well-being. - At the base lies the consciousness that we are all part of a larger whole to care for. - Holistic change is needed, from awareness and alignment to collaboration and co-creation. - Sustainability (encompassing EESG, i.e. Economics + ESG) will guide the actions, as we move from inputs (e.g. policies) and outputs to outcomes and well-being impact. The framework stems from WEGA's first-year report, An Asian Approach to the Well-being of Nations - Integrating Sustainability and Consciousness, available at https://lnkd.in/gWqwGm8p A partnership between CGS and TPC (Tsao Pao Chee), WEGA aims to drive research, education and dialogues on sustainable well-being, with a focus on Asia. As part of the NUS Sustainability CONNECT Festival, this masterclass reminds us that sustainability is not the destination, but the pathway towards a connected and well future.
