𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙. At the Society of Petroleum Engineers International ATCE conference, I got the chance to connect with Simon Seaton (SPE CEO and SVP) and catch up with Elena Melchert , CEO of Energia Consulting. What stood out most was Elena’s work moderating the Opening Panel, a group of oil and gas CEOs leading technical innovation. The room was packed, and every leader at that table had a different take on what’s next for our industry. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: True leadership in oil and gas means staying technical, staying curious, and never getting comfortable. The CEOs on that panel talked openly about what keeps them up at night data, safety, and finding new talent. But what set them apart was how they approached challenges: 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘨𝘰, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳. 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻. Grateful for the conversations, the energy, and a few new perspectives to bring back to what I do every day. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from a leader in our industry?
