Our workplaces should make everyone feel safe. Sadly, that’s still not the reality. Sexual harassment at work is more common than it seems. One of the biggest problems is the lack of formal reporting. Too many women stay silent because of: ➡️ Fear of retaliation ➡️ Worries about not being believed ➡️ Uncertainty about what happens after reporting — especially for young workers in less secure jobs But we can change this. By building strong HR practices and a workplace culture rooted in gender equality, we can break down these barriers and make every employee feel safe, respected, and heard. Why does the next Gender Equality Strategy matter? We asked two changemakers. To get to the heart of why the EU’s next Gender Equality Strategy is so important, we spoke with Nicolae Ștefănuță—who calls for “more action, less talk”—and Laura de Bonfils, Secretary General of Social Platform, who urges us to “defend our space and fund what works.” Their message is clear: progress is real, but fragile. We need bold action, strong civil society, and resources where they make a difference. Want to know what’s at stake and what needs to happen next? Read our new article for exclusive insights from both interviews, plus EIGE’s latest contribution to the Strategy. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eeDZTGFK

Migration has always been part of human history. But today, the risks are far from equal. As more people arrive in the EU, gender shapes every stage of the journey: from the reasons people flee, to the dangers they face, to the support they can access. EIGE’s research shows that women, especially those with insecure status, face higher risks of gender-based violence in transit, on arrival, and during crises. Our latest report calls for urgent action across the EU and Member States: 🔹 Integrate GBV safeguards into the EU asylum and migration pact 🔹 Establish EU-wide training standards and harmonised data collection 🔹 Guarantee shelter and support for all migrants, without restriction 🔹 Involve migrant-led organisations in planning and services 🔹 Ensure survivor-centred, intersectional approaches A safer and fairer Europe means protecting everyone, wherever they come from. 🤝 Today, EIGE’s Director, Carlien Scheele, joined EU Ministers for Equality at the EPSCO Council meeting under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2025 with a clear message: tackling gender stereotypes is essential for real progress. To truly thrive, we must address issues like violence against women, the gender pay gap, and persistent inequalities in unpaid care and decision-making. “The challenge is immense. But so is the opportunity. The evidence is in your hands. We know that gender stereotypes are powerful drivers of inequality – but we also know they can be changed.” highlighted Carlien Scheele. 📢 “With determined action, political will, and evidence-based policy, we can loosen their grip”. #GenderEquality #EndStereotypes #EPSCO #EIGE
