This week, the Luxembourg Space Agency Astronaut for a Day (#AFAD) finalists took a zero-gravity flight! 🧑🚀 16 parabolas, and experiencing weightlessness – what an adventure! Upon return to Luxembourg’s Findel Airport, SES and our very own Dr. Xavier Bertrán had the privilege to join the ceremony of welcoming the brave teenagers from Luxembourg, Austria and Estonia. A visionary approach to space and innovation is in Luxembourg’s DNA and SES is happy to support this #LSA initiative that helps nurturing talents in Europe, together with ClearSpace and Redwire Space. The event took place in the presence of the Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Marc Serres, CEO of the Luxembourg Space Agency, Andreas Geisler, Head of Aeronautics and Space Agency at the FFG Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and Dr. Karin Proidl, Ambassador of Austria in Luxembourg. Thank you for your continuous support of space initiatives and young talents! A special thank you to SES’s Space Ambassador Lara Kalanke who proudly wore the exclusive SES flight patch during the flight!

Navigating the era of satellite systems in non-geostationary orbits (NGSO) requires finding a balance between sovereignty, security, and innovation. This is especially important when addressing a real and growing challenge: unauthorized operations of ground stations (terminals) connecting to these NGSO satellite networks. Recently, SESer Michelle Caldeira shared a pertinent analysis on this topic with DPL News, highlighting how the right approach will protect spectrum, preserve national sovereignty, and keep operators accountable without grounding the very networks that make global connectivity possible.
