PNB locker charges revised: Check how much people need to pay in rural, semi-urban, urban and metro areas

Synopsis
Punjab National Bank has reduced locker rent charges across all regions and locker sizes, effective 30 days after publication on its website. Customers are allowed 12 free locker visits annually, with a Rs 100 charge for additional operations. Lockers can be broken open under specific circumstances, including misplaced keys or non-compliance with terms, following a strict notice procedure.

Locker charges as on October 17, 2025
PNB customers will be allowed 12 free locker visits per financial year. For any additional visit beyond this limit, a charge of Rs 100 per visit will be applicable.Further, branches have been instructed to include the following clause in the locker lease register at the time of issuing new lockers:
Under what conditions bank locker will be break open-
· The break open of the locker can be under following circumstances: -
· If the bank has been contacted by government enforcement organisations requesting access to lockers after receiving court orders or other necessary competent authority to take the lockers
· If the bank believes that the locker must be reclaimed because the renter is not cooperating or following the terms and conditions of the contract.
According to the PNB website, “Before breaking open the locker, three notices to the locker-hirer be given. through a letter and b. through the registered email and c. through the SMS alert on the registered mobile phone number. If the letter is returned undelivered or the locker-hirer is not traceable, a public notice be issued in two newspaper dailies (one in English and another in a local language) having wide circulation at the last-known residential address, giving 15 days’ time to the locker-hirer or to any other person/s who has interest in the contents of locker to respond. Also the undelivered letter with noting of Post-office be kept in record.”
