𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 | 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 From September 28 to October 3, 2025, IRESEN - Institut de Recherche en Énergie Solaire et Énergies Nouvelles had the honor of hosting the MENALINKS Regional Study Tour & Regional Expert Committee in Marrakech and Ben Guerir, bringing together energy experts, regulators, and institutions from Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Türkiye, and Tunisia. Throughout an entire week of collaboration and exchange, participants explored the future of smart grids, flexibility, and sector coupling — key enablers for the MENA region’s sustainable energy transition. ⚙️ At the Green Energy Park, The organizing teams led an immersive capacity-building session, featuring: 🔹 Technical presentations on Morocco’s smart grid advancements 🔹 Research insights from the Smart Grids Test Lab and Smart Campus Houses 🔹 Live demonstrations on microgrid energy management and demand-side flexibility 🤝 The following sessions in Marrakech focused on regional coordination through the Regional Expert Committee, contributing to a shared roadmap for enhanced cooperation under the MENALINKS programme — led by Guidehouse Germany GmbH, with the support of Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), EGI, and Fraunhofer IEG, under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). 🌍 The Study Tour concluded during the World Power-to-X Summit 2025, creating a powerful bridge between technical cooperation and strategic dialogue on the region’s energy transition. In partnership with Al Akhawayn University (AUI), GIZ Maroc, IRESEN - Institut de Recherche en Énergie Solaire et Énergies Nouvelles proudly organized the Green Hydrogen Morocco Camp & Hackathon – 2nd edition, bringing together 80 outstanding students from across Morocco for an immersive week of learning and creativity in Ifrane. Throughout the program, participants received hands-on training and engaged in real-world case studies focused on updating Morocco’s Green Hydrogen Roadmap — translating vision into practical innovation. For over a decade, IRSEC has united researchers, innovators, and institutions around a shared mission: advancing applied science and innovation for a sustainable future. This year, IRSEC’X reaffirmed its role as the scientific pillar of the Summit, bridging academia, industry, and policy in Marrakech. Designed as a meeting point between innovation and collaboration, this space highlighted how ideas discussed in the plenary sessions translate into practical, deployable technologies. 🔹 A 25 kW electrolyzer, officially handed over to the Université Chouaïb Doukkali El Jadida (ENSA El Jadida), illustrated the progress of the Green H₂A platform co-developed by IRESEN - Institut de Recherche en Énergie Solaire et Énergies Nouvelles, UM6P - University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, and OCP Group. 🔹 The Emergency Water from Air (EWA) system, presented by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Czechoslovak Export, and KARBOX s.r.o, introduced a low-carbon solution for generating clean water from humidity — a promising innovation for arid regions. 🔹 Alongside them, industrial partners, startups, and research institutions showcased technologies spanning hydrogen production, energy storage, e-fuels, and smart mobility.
