Lamakū Program-Assessment Fellows: Lighting the Path from Course to Program Learning Assessment

Who can participate?

  • University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa instructors who currently teach 300- or 400-level degree-required courses in Lamakū.
  • Instructors (including lecturers, TAs, faculty, and staff) who are interested in improving their course learning assessment and who desire to contribute to the program learning assessment.  

What will a fellow do?

The Lamakū Program-Assessment Fellow will learn how to set up Lamakū assessment functions to conduct course learning assessment and how to use course assessment to support program and institutional learning assessment. Fellows will work with ACSC staff and fellow instructors to reflect on and improve their assessment and assignments, attend training sessions, and showcase their assessment process at assessment forums. Specifically, the fellows will participate in the following activities:

  1. Lamakū Training: Register and attend one 1-hour session: Explore Lamakū for Program Learning Assessment Session (9/19 @1pm, 9/23 @11:30am, 9/25 @12:30pm, 10/2 @12pm, 10/8 @10:30). Attend additional training appropriate for one’s needs.
  2. Peer exchange sessions: Attend 2 or 3 cohort meetings to be scheduled among the fellows in October and November.
  3. Individual consultations: Meet with Yao Hill, the cohort lead, twice for individual consultations. 
  4. Showcase: Attend a 75-minute showcase event in January 2026.
  5. Mentor: assist one or more colleagues in setting up an outcome assessment structure in Lamakū.

  3. Have ACSC and peer support on improving assignments for teaching and assessment purposes
  4. Join like-minded instructors to share challenges and collaboratively seek solutions in teaching, assessment, and contribute to learning improvement at the program level
