Green Building Council Nigeria reposted this
Ahead of #COP30, over 40 countries are using our NDC Scorecard for Sustainable Buildings to evaluate their national climate action plans — helping align climate commitments with the buildings sector. Launched in June, we developed the NDC Scorecard with our global network of Green Building Councils (GBCs) to help governments assess and strengthen the buildings component of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the #ParisAgreement. Driven by the insights from the NDC Scorecard, we’re already seeing bold policy shifts around the world: 🇧🇷Brazil: 2 new national building policies developed 🇨🇱 Chile: 5 regulatory instruments in NDC 3.0 now align with national recommendations 🇲🇦 Morocco: 4 new building actions integrated into its national NDC 🇳🇬 Nigeria: 6 new building policies have been added to its NDC, including making energy efficiency and climate resilience part of the national building code, and plans for two smart, climate-resilient cities per geographical zone. The impact from our global network also includes: 🌍 16 National Action Plans 🏛️ 150 new policy recommendations across 19 governments 🤝Collaboration with 40+ international organisations, including the International Energy Agency (IEA), C40 Cities, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), and World Resources Institute. The NDC Scorecard acts as a practical guide to move beyond promises and into implementation. As we look ahead to #COP30, we’re calling on all governments to #BeBoldOnBuildings — and make buildings a cornerstone of national climate strategies.
