Now that the angels have listened to my pitch… what’s next?” That’s one of the most common questions founders ask after presenting to investors. The truth? The pitch is just the beginning. Once the angels have listened, the real process begins; a mix of curiosity, verification, and relationship building. Here’s what typically happens next: 1. Internal Review & Deliberation Angels take time to review your deck, notes, and responses. They assess your business model against their investment thesis — stage, traction, valuation, and scalability. 2. Due Diligence If there’s initial interest, they’ll request supporting documents — financials, cap table, customer traction, legal status, and team bios. It’s not personal; it’s process. 3. Follow-up Conversations Expect clarifying questions. Some angels may want one-on-one calls to dive deeper into your assumptions or to get to know you beyond the pitch. 4. Syndicate Coordination In angel networks like LAN, deals often move as syndicates. Interested angels signal commitment, and a lead investor may emerge to structure the deal. 5. Decision & Communication Finally, founders are notified either to proceed to negotiation, to pause for alignment, or to stay on the radar for future opportunities. So, when you ask “what’s next?” It’s this: 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘂𝗽. The best founders don’t wait silently; they keep the communication warm, respond quickly, and show progress. Because every investor conversation, even if it doesn’t lead to a cheque - is an opportunity to grow your visibility and credibility in the ecosystem. At Lagos Angel Network, we’re helping founders understand this process and helping angels stay transparent and collaborative at every step. #StartupFunding #FounderTips #DealFlow #AfricanStartups G. Lagos, October 11 - 18, 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark week - where Africa’s most influential investment, tech, and policy platforms converge to unlock opportunity, capital, and impact. Yemi Keri sets the tone, reminding us that this series of events leads into ABAN Congress 2025 (October 17–18) - a milestone celebration of 10 years of angel investing under the banner “Accelerating Local Capital Participation.” Together, we will reflect on past lessons, push for cross-border growth, and chart how local capital shapes Africa’s next frontier. Stay close, register early, and be part of this powerful moment in our ecosystem. #LAN #ABANCongress2025 #LocalCapital #InvestAfrica G. Osheyyyyy.... LAN with the vibes 🤣 🤣
𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 ✍🏾👼🏾 Every founder has felt it. You walk into a room, pour your heart into a pitch, and at the end, the angel across the table says: "We’re not writing checks right now." Ouch. It stings. You start to wonder: 🤔 Are they even serious? 🤔 Did I waste my time? 🤔 Does this mean my startup isn’t worth it? But here’s the truth: angel investing is way more than just writing checks. There are two kinds of angels: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 💸 — those who deploy capital actively. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 🧭 — those who, for now, may not be writing checks, but carry priceless experience, networks, and perspective. Both are important. Both matter. At Lagos Angel Network we have them all. Sometimes, having an angel on your advisory board—even when they haven’t invested a dime—can open doors you didn’t know existed. We can: 💪 Give you mentorship that saves you from costly mistakes. 👉 Offer guidance that shapes your business model. 🤝 Make a warm introduction that brings the cheque you were hoping for. We’ve seen startups raise more money because of who was in their corner than because of what was in their bank account. So founders, don’t dismiss the angel who isn’t cutting cheques right now. And angels, let’s not underestimate the weight of our time, our counsel, and our network. Because in the end, angel investing isn’t just about money—it’s about building. And builders need more than bricks; they need architects, mentors, and champions in their corner. 👉🏾 The balance is what creates true angel capital: wisdom + wealth, guidance + gold.
