Recently, our colleagues at Damen Dredging did just this to take the idea of a paperless office to the next level. In the workshop, large mobile screens now display engineering drawings in real time. This enables quick, straightforward checks – in fine detail – without a single sheet of paper, boosting efficiency and leaving the trees in the forest where they belong. What makes this even more special is the enthusiastic adoption by our workshop teams. We’re excited to share that we’ve signed a contract with Chomex Marino for the construction of two next-generation Offshore Support Tugs (OST 120), developed to meet the operational needs of Woodside Energy in the Gulf of Mexico. Built at the Albwardy Damen yard in the UAE, these versatile vessels are designed to support a wide range of offshore activities, including hose handling, tanker assistance, bulk and personnel transfer, deployment of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and oil spill response. By reducing the need for additional supply vessels, the OST 120 enables more efficient offshore operations and helps Woodside to run its operations with a lower emissions footprint. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 When Hanson Aggregate Marine’s (Heidelberg Materials) TSHD Arco Dijk docked at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam for a life extension project, it quickly became apparent that she would need two new nozzles. But time was of the essence... Responding quickly, Damen Marine Components set about engineering and producing custom Optima Nozzles for the vessel. As a result, the nozzle now has an increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Applying their expert craftsmanship, DMC were able to produce a model perfectly matching Arco Rijk’s requirements. This, together with a series of other works, prepares the Arco Dijk for at least another five years of sustainable service. Heartfelt congratulations to our colleagues at Damen Naval Founded in 1875 as Maatschappij De Schelde, Damen Naval celebrates its 150th anniversary today – a century and a half of maritime heritage. Over the years, the company has been the birthplace of iconic and magnificent ships such as the Willem Ruys, the Kungsholm, the Netherlands' first submarine O1, the Kojak frigates HNLMS Tromp and HNLMS De Ruyter, and, not forgetting, the Combat Support Ship HNLMS Den Helder. Today, Damen Naval has become an indispensable link in the chain, serving as main contractor and original equipment manufacturer in the Dutch naval construction industry, and is on its way to many more years of securing our seas. This year, we welcomed 31 suppliers, 4 start-ups, and numerous Damen companies to explore how collaboration drives meaningful progress in the maritime industry. Highlights included the possibility for visitors to discover innovative vessels like the Plain Suction Dredger (PSD350) and the Unmanned Service Vessel (USV). The demonstration of the USV featured autonomous functionalities such as auto docking and automated sailing. Guests could also enjoy a guided tour to the Damen Shoalbuster and had the opportunity to sail on a selection of Damen vessels. The festival was a celebration of partnership and innovative solutions. Sustainability in Schelluinen! Our newly opened distribution centre in Schelluinen, the Netherlands is strategically located for excellent transport links by road, water and air. It’s also close to our HQ in Gorinchem, ensuring short lines, smooth logistics and timely delivery to our yards and clients all over the world. More than that, though, the state-of-the-art centre offers significant steps forward in sustainability. The new location boasts a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certificate – confirming the sustainability of both the facility and its use. To give just a few examples, we’ve installed solar panels, efficient lighting and an advanced climate control system.
