Last week at Directions San Jose, the conversation centered around one theme - how collaboration, standardization and AI innovation are shaping the future of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). From Bill Schumacher and Jeremy L. discussing end-to-end automation and the competitive pressure Western OEMs face from China, to Maitê Alves Bezerra from Omdia outlining a framework to standardize SDV maturity, the insights were both deep and actionable. David Flynt from Lucid Motors highlighted the importance of creating customizable, differentiated user experiences, while a fireside chat led by Sowmya Gopal brought together Jan Rüdiger (Elektrobit), Stefano Marzani (Amazon Web Services (AWS)), and Aravind Asam (Qualcomm) to explore how virtualization, open platforms, and collaboration can accelerate OEMs’ speed to market. Last week, on October 8, 2025, Dr. Qing Rao, Momenta's Global Chief Solution Architect, delivered a talk titled “Enabling Navigation Pilot Worldwide: The Roles and Challenges of Maps” at HERE Directions 2025. In his session, Dr. Rao explained which maps are essential for both autonomous driving and the drivers' experience.
