More than 700 leaders from the semiconductor and Photonic Chip industries are gathering in Eindhoven for PIC Summit Europe 2025, organised by PhotonDelta. This year’s theme, “Scaling together in a dynamic world”, reflects the need for the global photonic chip industry to unite around standardisation, capacity building, and collaboration in response to generational shifts across AI, quantum computing, agrifood, and healthcare. “The industry needs to unite to drive new applications, manufacturing capacity, and standardisations in response to a range of generational changes impacting all of us,” said Eelko Brinkhoff, CEO of PhotonDelta. PhotonDelta actively supports its partners with coaching, funding and access to market. We also promote the adoption of photonic integrated chips worldwide, engaging with a variety of industries as well as the academic world. As a pioneer in the manipulation of light and with a bright history of innovation, the Netherlands is at the forefront of the integrated photonics industry (read more below). PhotonDelta was created by mandate of the Dutch government in December 2018 to accelerate the emerging Dutch integrated photonics industry and was granted € 240 million to execute the national plan for photonics. In May 2022, PhotonDelta’s proposal for the Dutch national growth fund was successfully awarded €1,1 billion. These funds are meant to develop the ecosystem, industrialize production and develop application technology. PhotonDelta ecosystem partner PHIX Photonics Assembly has announced a new collaboration with Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院), LIGITEK 立碁電子, and Liverage Technology Inc. in Taiwan to advance high-speed, energy-efficient optical transceivers. This partnership focuses on developing next-generation optical engines by combining PHIX’s expertise in photonic packaging with Taiwan’s strong semiconductor and optoelectronic capabilities. Together, the partners aim to drive innovation in hybrid integration and prepare scalable solutions for volume manufacturing. PhotonDelta ecosystem partner SuperLight Photonics has unveiled the SLP-2000, a full-spectrum SWIR supercontinuum laser designed for next-generation OCT, biomedical imaging, and industrial metrology. Covering 950–1350 nm, the compact and maintenance-free SLP-2000 delivers ultra-low noise and uniform spectral power density ideal for high-resolution, real-time imaging and non-destructive testing.
