Tuurden pionierende astronomen als Galileo Galilei nog door handzame instrumentjes naar de kosmos, inmiddels zijn telescopen uitgegroeid tot kolossen met de afmetingen van sportstadions. Zo’n astronomisch paleis vol hightech-apparatuur bouw je niet zomaar even. Reden voor KIJK om af te reizen naar de hoogvlaktes van Chili voor een kleine inspectie van de grootste telescopen ter wereld.

Door onder meer de (op)komst van 5G en Internet of Things (IoT) neemt het digitale dataverkeer razendsnel toe. Het aantal gigabytes dat straks via satellieten naar elders verstuurd moet worden, is veel te groot voor de huidige radiotechnologie. Vandaar dat er hard gewerkt wordt aan laser satellite communication, ook bij TNO in Delft. Met onder andere als doel de Nederlandse hightech industrie te helpen een stevige positie te verwerven op deze lucratieve markt.

Een handelsmissie in Duitsland met het koningspaar doet vele belangrijke deuren openzwaaien. De ruimtevaartindustrie uit Nederland is vastbesloten om deze ontmoeting om te zetten in een langdurige relatie.

AMSTERDAM - Nederland heeft een prestigeproject van het het Europese sterrenkundig instituut ESO in de wacht gesleept. VDL ETG Projects mag meebouwen aan de grootste telescoop ter wereld, de ELT.

EINDHOVEN - TNO begint in Eindhoven met een afdeling voor onderzoek en ontwikkeling in de optica en opto-mechatronica. De onderzoekinstelling wil daarmee inspelen op de toenemende vraag van bedrijven in de regio naar optische kennis.

Knowledge exchanges between employees can be modelled as a network of relationships. To study these networks we have developed the Knowledge Network Analysis technique, which is based on Social Network Analysis and supports visual as well as quantitative analysis of knowledge networks. The goal of this technique is to identify bottlenecks in knowledge sharing in a particular knowledge area. In this paper we present the results of the application of Knowledge Network Analysis in an explorative case study. The goal of the case study is to explore the usefulness of Knowledge Network Analysis in identifying knowledge sharing bottlenecks. The case study results in a deeper understanding of how to translate the characteristics of the knowledge network and the employees in this network to the context of the case study organization. The Knowledge Network Analysis technique presented in this paper provides companies with an aid to construct this picture in a structured way. It approaches knowledge management from a network perspective. In the first phase, the main actors, including their roles and expertise level, in a specific knowledge area are identified. Consequently, the knowledge transfer between the actors is analyzed using the concept of velocity and viscosity of the knowledge transfer.
