I'm SO, SO TIRED of AI that argues with me about ABAP. Just spent weirdest 20 minutes explaining to Gemini how ABAP works and I bet damn thing will forget about it anyway. 🤦‍♀️ The task was very simple: update existing code, so that when the numbers are moved into character type fields, the result is left-aligned without leading spaces. (Straight up moving numeric values to CHAR results in right-aligned value.) Gemini went in guns-a-blazing with typical 90s code using WRITE and Hungarian Notation. After "can't you just use string expressions, bro?" it went on a weird trip with REPLACE and REGEX. When I asked explicitly to use ALIGN = LEFT, it started a long argument that this won't work because it does not remove leading spaces. By that time, I've already updated and tested the code myself, but continued the original dialogue out of curiosity. For reference, the code sample below does what I need and is easy to understand (here, total_volume is a numeric field and volum is explicitly defined within a structure as CHAR type field). volum = |{ total_volume ALIGN = LEFT }| To prove its point, Gemini even created a test program. That's where it became clear that it fell into a typical trap: inline declarations result in STRING rather than CHAR type and there are major differences how these types handle blank space (another oddity in ABAP). This code produces a different result than above for that reason: DATA(volum) = |{ total_volume ALIGN = LEFT }|. Gemini ended up crafting a long apology. 😤 However, if you just search for "ABAP ALIGN = LEFT" on Google, you'll be surprised how crappy the results are. I guess it tried its best. 😀

Using Power Plat./Azure Functions(C#)/SharePoint to dynamically populate & merge word documents (eg quotations). The detailed video/code is here: https://lnkd.in/gg52hjhm Greetings, here's an example of dynamically populating table(s) in word documents (especially during quote process) and merging them with other word artifacts to create a single word document. Following are the steps: 1. Power Apps serves as input and Dataverse the datasource. 2. The C# code connects to Dataverse and pulls relevant data from respective columns. Note what goes into the "description" column can be dynamic based on what is needed in the word document. 3. The Word template is tokenized to accept dynamic content. Along with other artifacts to be merged, this is uploaded to respective folders in SharePoint. 4. Azure Function in C# retrieves this data and populates the respective table(s) and merges the document and uploads it to SharePoint. MS Graph is used to authenticate and pull templates and push final docs to respective SharePoint folders. 5. A Power Automate flow calls the Azure Function. Note this process cannot native be done from Power Automate. Kind regards... You might have seen the news [Link in comment 👇] In case it seems a bit unclear, here it is in simple words.. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐀𝐏 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠? Europe is somewhere at a crossroads nowadays…..They want to harness AI and cloud innovation but at the same time are nervous about handing over their data to big global hyperscalers. That's why SAP is offering Sovereign Cloud..just for Europe. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐀𝐏 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝?
