What can happen when you gather 150+ Nordic founders and investors for 48 hours in SF? A lot. A full activity programme + spontaneous dinners, wine tastings, and boat tours - all to build trust and dive straight into the opportunities for the Nordics to collaborate deeper with the SF tech scene. We designed each activity the Nordic way. Not sitting in a meeting room, but releasing endorphins and experiencing new things together. We started off with a morning run for the jetlagged. Then straight to a surfing session co-hosted with Carl from Creandum at Pacifica. Setting that Nordic x Cali vibe right off the bat 🤙 And straight from the ocean to the hills, co-hosted by byFounders, Inception Fund, and guided by Eric, showing us his favorite vista points. The Golden Gate in the background, and big thoughts about strengthening the Nordics-US tech bridge. Conversations on scaling in the Nordics vs US, fundraising in Europe vs. US, and GTM strategies kept going well into the evening at the Welcome Dinner hosted by Jai from Khosla Ventures and Shravan and Shreyas from IVP at Jørn’s SHACK15 — main venue of Mesh San Francisco. DAY 2 kept the rhythm.. Early run and breakfast 🥞 at SHACK15. Then, almost 60 Nordic founders and VCs took over the Bay City in a bike ride 🚴🏻♂️ co-hosted with Luke from New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Anna from Kinnevik. 🔥 🧊 Meanwhile, others went full Nordic-meets-SF — sauna and cold plunge with Alex, from ACME Capital and, of course, the sauna extraordinaire and Finn Sami from Spintop Ventures. The Nordics took over San Francisco. Two days. 150+ Nordic founders and investors met with top American VCs. One mission — to close the distance between ecosystems 8,500 km apart. We’re still catching our breath — but what a week! We: • Connected by surfing, hiking, biking, jogging, and much more together to connect deeper than the average conference allows you to • Shared ideas over dinner, lunches, and panels to figure out how we best connect the Nordic and SF ecosystems moving forward to truly back the most ambitious founders • Heard from top local founders, VC heavy-weights, and industry pioneers. And whether it was Ben Horowitz or OpenAI execs speaking, there was an undeniable optimism and interest in the Nordic tech scene The conversations felt like signals — of how fast the Nordics are moving and how connected we are becoming. Even the weather felt symbolic. San Francisco was all sun and clear skies. Maybe a good sign for the Nordic startup ecosystem too! A huge thank you to all who joined us. Yesterday we had our first Mesh Collective event in Copenhagen, surrounded by pink oysters, art, and bubbles @ the Copenhagen Fashion & Art agency INTROOUTRO As Anders Mjåset mentioned, the perfect setting to give our visiting friends from the ecosystem some of the best Copenhagen has to offer - a blend of design and fine cuisine. We were excited to catch up with Mesh Nusfjord adventurers among new faces and friends joining us for Mesh San Francisco in October. We want to keep the momentum of the Nordics going - it’s time to step up.
