Especially when you bring people together who are curious, open, and eager to share. ✨ Thank you to the team at PA Consulting in Oslo for welcoming us for One Hour Mentoring during Global Volunteer Week. ✨A special thank you to Marie Nustad for organizing and to Ali Rana for your presentation. ✅ Sammen om en jobb members shared their stories, experiences, and perspectives on entering the Norwegian job market. ✅ The PA consultants, in turn, shared insights from the consulting industry, how recruitment processes work, what skills they look for, and how to stand out as a candidate. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬. It’s not just about giving advice, but about exchanging insight and understanding. Om oss
Morgendagens arbeidsliv trenger alle talentene. Vi kobler innvandrere og flyktninger med høyere utdanning med norsk næringsliv. Slik løser vi to samfunnsutfordringer samtidig – vi får folk i jobb, og vi øker mangfoldet og kompetansen i norske selskaper. Sammen om en jobb har knyttet over 200 mennesker fra 66 nasjonaliteter med 150 mentorer fra norsk næringsliv. I løpet av seks måneder støtter mentoren sin personlige deltaker til å få brukt sin kompetanse og erfaring i en relevant jobb. Tilbake får mentoren ny innsikt, motivasjon og mangfoldskompetanse. Forskning viser at nettopp mentorprogrammer er et av de mest effektive tiltakene for å øke og utnytte mangfoldet internt i selskaper. Er din bedrift interessert i sosial bærekraft, og har et ønske om å gå fra ord til handling? Gjennom deltakelse i Sammen om en jobb sitt mentorprogram øker dere kompetansen internt, møter potensielle nye kollegaer og tar del i å løse en stor samfunnsutfordring. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬? Last week, we hosted Cecilie M. in Stavanger. We wanted to learn what a recruiting process should ideally look like, and what participants' real-life experiences are. 🔵I didn't love to hear how many people feel discriminated against as job-seekers. 🔵At the same time, it's important to share these experiences. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 Dual career couples need career opportunities for two, not one, to thrive in a new location. Nevertheless, studies and reports point in the same direction: relocating for a partner's career often means your own takes a (temporary) hit. 💻 The Permits Foundation's 2022 global partner survey collected feedback from 730 partners and spouses across 103 host countries. Over 70% were women, almost 90% held a bachelor's degree or higher, and around 90% were employed before relocating. Almost all respondents wanted to work, yet only 53% worked (salaried employees and self-employment included). 74% would consider leaving because of restrictions on access to work in the host country. ❓ What about Norway? The Permits Foundation numbers were collected primarily from partners in countries where work permits for expat partners are not readily available. This is not the case in Norway, so things should be different here. Or? ✅ The figures shared above are reflected in Sammen om en jobb datasets from Rogaland: the majority of members are female, on a family visa with a partner who works here, and highly skilled. They worked before relocation and struggled to join the workforce in Norway. ✅ We are eagerly awaiting the publication of Şahizer Samuk (Carignani)'s ongoing research on highly skilled partners' inclusion in the Norwegian workforce for more formal Norwegian insights into this.
