Debt financing on the rise among Finnish startups 💰📈 According to our latest Startup Barometer, there has been a clear shift in attitudes: Finnish startups are increasingly open to debt financing. While public discussions often highlight venture capital rounds, our recent member survey reveals that founders now see loans as a more relevant funding mechanism. On a scale of 1–5, the importance of debt financing was rated 2.9 in 2024, with expectations rising to 3.4 by 2026. Nordea’s data supports this trend: in H1/2025, startup debt financing increased by 154% year-over-year, with €130M in loans granted. If the pace continues, 2025 could mark a record year with €190M in startup loans. As startups mature and interest rates ease, debt is becoming an increasingly attractive tool for growth.
