🩷 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month🩷 Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in Europe. But with greater awareness, prevention efforts, and timely access to care, lives can be saved. 🩷 Early detection is crucial. Regular breast self-checks and recommended screenings play a key role in identifying changes early and improving outcomes. At JA Prevent NCD, we are committed to reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases — including cancer — by strengthening health promotion, prevention, and early detection strategies across Europe. 🩷This month, let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can each contribute — as individuals, communities, and systems — to raise awareness, empower women, and promote equitable access to prevention and care. 🩷 Together, we can make a difference. 🌍 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #EarlyDetection #CancerPrevention #PublicHealth #JAPreventNCD #HealthPromotion #WellbeingEconomy #EquityInHealth World Health Organization

The Prevent NCD Walk at the European Health Forum Gastein showed how dialogue can turn into action, and movement, for a healthier Europe. 🎥 Great to see 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐨 from the JA PreventNCD Youth Advisory Group featured in this video, sharing her reflections on the event. We were extremely pleased to be part of this great initiative — thank you to Gesundheit Österreich GmbH for organizing! #Prevention #HealthPromotion #JAPreventNCD
🚶♀️🌍 A walking dialogue on tackling non-communicable diseases in Europe The Prevent NCD Walk, organised by the Austrian National Public Health Institute (Gesundheit Österreich GmbH), brought discussions on non-communicable disease prevention out into the open. This #EHFG2025 session turned dialogue into movement and ideas into action, highlighting that when it comes to tackling NCDs, we truly need to take steps – both literally and metaphorically. Key takeaways: 🤝 Cooperation and collaboration are key. Diseases and risk factors don’t respect borders. Joint cross-country action and shared identification of risk factors are essential to reduce fragmentation and strengthen prevention. 💶 The economic impact of NCDs. Reaching prevention goals means fewer cases, less suffering, and lower costs. Investing in prevention is not only good for health - it’s smart economic policy. 👶 Children are the NCD patients of tomorrow. With most food advertising still misaligned with dietary recommendations, stronger policies on marketing, labelling, and taxation are needed to support healthier diets. 🥗 Procurement as a lever for change. Public procurement can drive healthier and more sustainable food systems, proving that changing minds can be as important as changing menus. 🌱 Empowering youth. The next generation is ready to lead. Creating environments where healthy choices are the easiest, and only, choices is key to long-term success. Each stop of the walk reinforced a clear message: building a healthier Europe for all requires trust, transparency, and teamwork – across borders, sectors, and generations. 👏 Thank you to our speakers and moderator: Herwig OSTERMANN | Knut Inge Klepp | Sanja SISOVIC | Hanna Tolonen | Johannes Pleiner | Betina Bergmann Madsen | Gabriele Gruber #EHFG2025Rewind #HealthPromotion #Prevention JA PreventNCD International Youth Health Organization Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety

We were proud to co-host this inspiring two-day event with WHO Regional Office for Europe and JACARDI, bringing together communicators from across Europe to strengthen how we tell stories that drive prevention and build trust. The discussions in Copenhagen reminded us that communication is at the heart of NCD prevention, especially in a world where industries behind harmful products invest heavily to shape the narrative. Together, we can make the healthy choice the easy choice through clear, coordinated and evidence-based communication. 🔗 Our article summarizing both days will be published soon on our website https://www.preventncd.eu #JAPreventNCD #CommunicatingForImpact #HealthCommunication #NCDPrevention
🌍 Communicating for Impact: Changing Health Narratives Together On 9-10 October 2025 in Copenhagen, communicators from across Europe came together for a powerful two-day exchange on how to tell public health stories that truly make a difference. Opened by Gundo Weiler, Director of Prevention and Health Promotion at WHO/Europe, the event, co-organized with the EU Joint Actions JA PreventNCD and JACARDI, brought together public health professionals, media experts, researchers, youth representatives and people with lived experience to explore how evidence-based communication can drive prevention and build trust. Over two days of discussions and practical workshops, participants shared national experiences and campaigns that have successfully shifted public perceptions around alcohol, tobacco, nutrition and physical activity. Conversations also focused on responsibility and integrity in health communication, and on how to counter the influence of industries that profit from harmful products. By connecting communicators across disciplines and countries, this event strengthened a shared European vision for impactful, trustworthy and coordinated health communication, because changing narratives can save lives. 💬💡 #EVIDAction

#WorldMentalHealthDay reminds us that mental health is not only personal but collective. When we take care of our mental health, we also help those around us. Research shows that emotions like happiness can ripple through our social networks, reaching even friends of friends. At JA PreventNCD, we strive to embed well-being into schools, workplaces, and policy environments so that resilience is supported by the systems around us. 🌍 Read the full article by Dr. Sigrún Þóra Sveinsdóttir, PhD on how emotional health spreads through our communities: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dUPihTM4 📖 For more on the WHO’s global campaign, see: https://lnkd.in/e42DJyh #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #PublicHealth #Wellbeing #PreventNCD WHO Regional Office for Europe

Slovenian National Public Health Conference 2025 At this year’s Slovenian National Public Health Conference, JA PreventNCD was represented through its own slot, where various sessions tackled the prevention of non-communicable diseases. Our session explored: ✅ Supportive environments as key to promoting health. ✅ Workplace, school, and academic health promotion. ✅ Expanding smoke-free spaces into open and semi-open areas. ✅ Youth engagement in shaping European health policies. ✅ The role of wellbeing economy in public health measures. The first part of the session explored the role of environments in disease prevention and health promotion, while in the second part, concrete approaches and tools of JA PreventNCD for more effective policy implementation were presented. Alongside the session, there was also a project booth, where participants could discuss and explore the project’s goals. The strong interest and exchange of ideas was truly inspiring! A big thank you to all speakers, moderators, and visitors who helped advance the conversation on building healthier, more resilient societies. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e6eVE53r #PublicHealth #PreventNCD #WellbeingEconomy #YouthEngagement #NCDPrevention
